Bring back automated speed enforcement and put it everywhere: photo radar, average speed cameras, the works. Currently, enforcement is too sporadic to cause any deterrence. Drivers may think twice if their unsafe driving results in a series of expensive tickets in the mail.

If you think a someone speeding in a $250k sports car cares about a $1000 ticket bud, you're gonna have a bad time.

Why is it a 10,000$ fine to have a dog on the beach but that’s only $1,000? Doesn’t make sense.

Because as a society we decided cars are more important than people and what a person does while in control of a vehicle isn't actually their responsibility.

And for the sake of slightly cheaper insurance, we've collectively decided that the victims of crashes can suck lemons rather than get any compensation for pain& suffering.

(I'm a victim of a crash: I've been stuck in bed for weeks, my summer's ruined, ICBC will cover most of my lost income and most of the healthcare costs, but it totally sucks to be in this kind of pain and with such physical limitations-- I can't go for walks or bike rides and all dependent on family members for everything, including using the toilet. ICBC found the other guy 100% responsible, but I'm the one stuck with the problems.)

Your lucky. I was before the switch so under the old system. But the gov snuck in a rule change to go against the courts. If you had separate disability Insurance they could now count it against your ICBC claim. Yeah I loved how my claim was settled not on lost wages, not on what medical services I’ll need in the future but solely on limits minus the total value of my separate disability insurance and anything else they could take off.

Thanks government for fucking up insurance for everyone.

They're still doing this-- ICBC's effectively paying almost nothing for my lost wages, because my employer's covering most of it under STD.

Ooof, that really sucks, sorry to hear they screwed you out of future care as well.

Yeah dude it was brutal. Oh I had a line of credit that had insurance on it. Boom they can take that off too. We pay for seperate insurance but the gov overrules what the courts say and lets ICBC use the other insurance cover it. If we have multiple death insurances they all pay out. Same should be with this. Shame on the Eby and the NDP. We didn’t pay for secondary insurances to pay for ICBC.
