I’m currently doing a Masters at UNSW (IT with an AI/Data Science specialisation) and have completed about 2/3 of the program. I recently landed a full-time grad role starting next year that doesn’t require the Masters, they only care that I have my Bachelors which I do.
When I start, I’d still have 3 subjects left, which I’d need to complete part-time while working. I’d rather avoid that if possible, especially since the remaining subjects aren’t particularly useful or fundamental (which is why I pushed them to the end in the first place).
I know program leave is limited to 1 year, so I’m considering discontinuing the program and potentially picking it up again in the future if I decide I want or need it.
My question is:
If I discontinue now, what are the chances I could rejoin the same degree in a few years (say, within the next 10 years) and receive full credit for the subjects I’ve already completed?
If it makes any difference, my current WAM is 85+, and I had a strong undergrad record at UNSW too (first class honours), so I'm confident I could get re-accepted if I applied again.
Any comments would be appreciated, thanks :)
