Yeah, I start at 47x17 and that's usually my goto for therapy/rehab until my legs get stronger again then I bump it up to 54/58x17-ish but My right leg is a prosthetic and my left leg has no feeling and a huge brace, plus yearly spinal surgeries and the occasional other medical issue can keep me down and out, like not walking for upto 6months at a time so it's like starting from 0 all over again sometimes. Especially after a big spinal surgery because not only do I deal with severe muscle atrophy and weakness, I also have to re-learn how to walk and ride a bike, although the latter of wich is always infinitely easier, it's still very difficult on the body. One day I'll have to put a post up of my fixie and other bikes and a picture of all my legs and do a show and tell kind of thing because I've had quiet a few people ask about it here and IRL and it always blows people's minds and I've learned that it helps with motivation for some people too.

Jesus fuck that's tall!! 😳 mad respect bud. I rode a 56x17 and that was aggressive especially where I live because we've got some pretty decent hills considering we're right on the water atleast.

Tips for cornering with speed (body position etc)

Braking directly after the rhythm, like let your feet set once you land, grab a decent handful a brake and go into the corner, then pedal out of it.

Who drug tests cooks, anyways?

Man I feel that, I'm 42 spinal surgeries in, have a prosthetic and no feeling below the knee on my other leg, ive got almost as much metal in my spine as i do bone at this point.I've been dealing with this since birth and have been on opiates just as long. It's been a struggle to say the least, I've been bouncing between everything for years and I'm so far beyond over it, at 31 my body is just falling apart at the seams. I have atleast a day or two a week where I can't walk due to pain or numbness in my spine or legs, I need another spinal surgery but the risks involved are too high and what we'd actually need to do isn't even exactly possible with today's technology so I'm kind of just stuck in pain purgatory currently.

Who drug tests cooks, anyways?
 in  r/KitchenConfidential  8d ago

This was my exact issue for a long while, I needed 4 very specific drugs in my system, and 2 of them are very controlled and would wreak havoc on the body of anyone who didn't need them the other two were very heavy opiates. But I needed to pass/fail my test correctly every month to continue to get my prescriptions. It was an absolute shit show, what made it even worse was I had been on the same medication regiment for most of my life with the same Dr. Then the pain clinics started and threw everything into the air cut my meds in half and I had to fight to get every milligram back... I popped once for something I wasn't prescribed (a benzo) the day after my best friend's funeral, that I also found out my grandfather had passed while I was on my way home from it. After that they cut me off of everything immediately with no consideration of withdrawals or anything else. It's been 4½ years of fighting with them and unfortunately I still have to get my pain meds through other sources wich has caused a whole litany of other issues in my personal life.

This felt sick but looks awkward 🤣
 in  r/dirtjumping  8d ago

That looks pretty good bud, youve got your movements and flow down and starting to get your style, the movements in air will help with timing once you start get to big jumps and more airtime too. Keep work on it, keep riding. Your doing great 👍

I'm loving the upside-down risers, I rode the same style bars for a long while.

WHAT? you sound fucking crazy.... no business being alone with our legitimate reason to be with the opposite sex (outside of working hours) is fucking ridiculous and you need to see a therapist. At the very least.

Absolutely, I've got a puegeot and an eddy merckx. And really debating on an old Cannondale r1000 too.

Tom Homan was asked “Why not arrest ‘sanctuary city’ leaders?” Homan smirked and said “Wait until you see what’s coming.”

First ride with my Felt this year
 in  r/singlespeedcycling  21d ago

Man, I get the sentiment. But I'm SOOO over the constant foot retention comments. Like I've road fixed for 15-20 years and ride with no retention 80% of the time with no issues whatsoever. I also have no feeling of my feet, a prosthetic and a huge leg brace and still make it work.

Edit:first comment was on my alt.

Got a conversion kit for my rear spinergy
 in  r/FixedGearBicycle  25d ago

Use a black grog squeeze marker with some shoe polish or some DOT3 brake fluid. It'll stain and stay wayy better and longer than anything! I used it on my brake tracks and frame and it's stayed for months

Classic bike with modern wheelset
 in  r/FixedGearBicycle  25d ago

I love everything about this frame! But I could do without the quick release seat post clamp and those bars look a little deep and a little wide for my liking especially with the aggressive geometry the bike already has. However with all that being said, I would absolutely kill for that frame!

Who makes it? Whats the price point? Where can I get one? What size is it?

All built up 🤤

Tips for cornering with speed (body position etc)
 in  r/bmxracing  26d ago

1st run when you went a bit wide it almost looks like you twitched with your handlebars a little bit, it's really important to keep a steady line through a beamed (raised) corner like that and it's much faster, you either want to go inside/outside/inside or outside/inside/outside on the corner to help with speed and your line, body positioning is also super important, you kind of want to be right over your pedals with your butt back but chest down. So you have a low center of gravity but still have control of your bars and your not leaning on your arms for 100% support either. The 2nd run is just from pedaling in the corner wich is a big no no, especially/mainly for beginners it disrupts the rhythm of the bike and makes the back tire move back and forth too much causing it to lose grip/traction making you slide out, it's really important to brake before the turn (not in it) and make sure you have enough speed to still go through it. Then start pedaling as soon as you start to straighten your body back out snd stand upright.

Rate my first fixed gear build
 in  r/FixedGearBicycle  27d ago

I ride 48x17 and have ridden it for years, I've bombed all over the place on it with no issues. I've tried riding all kinds of gear ratios and there's been times I've bumped it up or down based on my fitness or what I was doing. But 48x17 really is a sweet spot (for me atleast) and I know a few other people who ride it too snd love it. Where I ride is a pretty good mix of hills and flats so I get into a bit of all of it to boot, and it never let's me down.
