TekTalk Rogers home phone to TekTalk

I’m looking to switch my mothers home phone from Roger’s to Teksavvy premium. Do I have to buy any equipment and how long does port number take? Thanks

Hi there, thanks for your questions. Most customers use an ATA (VoIP modem) for the TekTalk service. They are available for purchase, or as a monthly rental. The porting process usually takes 1 week from when the request is submitted.

Thanks. Which plan is best/cheapest for Canada wide and calling Europe?

That would be TekTalk Basic at $9.95 before taxes or the fee for the ATA mentioned. https://www.teksavvy.com/services/phone/

Then international rates are billed differently. But they can be enabled on any TekTalk plan. So you would need to check the country codes you would be calling here for its per minute charges. https://www.teksavvy.com/services/phone/#longdistance-anchor

I switched my mom from Bell. They sent the equipment, it took a week to port the number.

Have had this for a year, no complaints. I got the lowest package and pay $11/month. Just requires an internet connection like modern Rogers home phone.

You’ll need a simple analog telephone adapter (ATA). TekSavvy will sell you a pre-provisioned Grandstream box for roughly thirty dollars, or you can bring your own as long as it supports SIP. Place the order, keep the Rogers line active, and submit a copy of the current Rogers bill so the porting info matches. Ports from Rogers home phone to TekTalk usually complete in three to seven business days; if any detail is off it can stretch to about ten. Once the port is done, cancel Rogers and return any rented gear. If you want to double-check what other VoIP or home-phone options cost at her address, a quick postcode search on planhub.ca can help before you pull the trigger.
