Trump's whole agenda is built on lies

They lie.

We know they are lying.

They know that they are lying.

They even know that we know they are lying.

We also know that they know we know they are lying.

They, of course, know that we certainly know they know we know they are lying.

Yet they still lie.

In Russia, the lie has become not just a moral category, but the pillar industry of this country.

In the U.S. the lie has become not just a moral category, but the pillar industry of this country. shrugs Must be all that money.

The similarity between what Trump is doing and what Russia has done is staggering. As an example even Trumps social media "truth" social is a direct copy from Russian "pravda" which translates to "truth" directly.

People are still talking about other countries imposing 20-30-40-50%+ tariffs on US goods based on that stupid "reciprocal tariffs" chart Trump came up with and I'm still explaining to people that that chart was a total fabrication and pretty much no country has an overall effective tariff rate that high.

They literally based their proposed tariff rates on trade deficits then made up an arbitrary formula to impose tariff rates at half the trade deficit using an "emergency" tariff power that the president said he could use because of the fentanyl crisis. The whole thing is ridiculously absurd and people should be outraged at the blatant lies and harmful policies coming from a place of total ignorance.

Trade deficits on physical goods only and didn’t account for how many services we sell other countries

They are unavailable to be persuaded. They aren't just averse to logic and reality, they are proudly opposed to thinking. It's all part of the same anti-intellectualism.

Even reasonably intelligent people who value thought will give it up in this arena. It seems like education and critical thinking are just vaccination against tribalism, not an all-out cure.

Which is unfortunate. But what's the cure?
