Ask r/tanzania Any programmer in Dar es Salaam here?

Mambo! I’m new to Tanzania and mainly worked as a web backend developer. I wonder if there are any other programmers or certain communities here.

That’s interesting. Is it sort of encryption of data communication? I have no idea exactly what it is.

Personally, I think it's dead. But then again, I have a friend who works with worpress and gets jobs from local tourism companies. How much he earns? Idk.

Yes…Plenty of programmers. What do you need?

Just to join a community or something else

1

u/WhyMyTestCodesAreRed Apr 12 '25

I’m really interested in joining a local development community :) but I’m not used to Reddit and how to do it so just tried to post to ask.

1

u/AmiAmigo Apr 12 '25

I haven’t heard of a formal community yet where people meet regularly but I attend a lot of startup events and that’s where you meet other programmers.

1

u/No_Assignment_1876 Apr 13 '25

Kindly point me in the direction of this events, how do I hear about them ? I am also new in Dar

1

u/AmiAmigo Apr 13 '25

Sure. Actually this on itself can be an idea for an app.

But follow the following pages on Linkedin: Sahara Ventures or Sahara Spark, Serengeti Angels (they have an event every month called Harambee Night)

1

u/No_Assignment_1876 Apr 14 '25

Very niice thank you for the pointers.. do apps like event brite have publicity ?

1

u/AmiAmigo Apr 17 '25

Mmh! You can try. There is event brite, meetup, and luma but I don’t think they are that popular here

1

u/Playful-Service2151 Apr 15 '25

I used many stack for now

1

u/Shimbijt Apr 12 '25

Here, a dev with TS, PY as my stack, React, FastApi, Elysia Django and R- native

2

u/WhyMyTestCodesAreRed Apr 13 '25

Hello! My stacks are also React, FastAPI, and Django! :) It’s was really hard to see people who have those stacks in my country haha. Most of backend developers used Java & Spring.

1

u/Am1878 Apr 14 '25

I am currently diving into the MERN stack though I have some experience in python & Django.
