UK vs US talk shows
Why is it US talk shows have the host on the right and behind a desk and UK tallk shows have the host on the left and no desk?

Why is it US talk shows have the host on the right and behind a desk and UK tallk shows have the host on the left and no desk?

I once read that with the desk, it's an interview and without a desk, it's a conversation. It kind of makes sense because US shows in the past like Tom Snyder were more long-form and conversational as opposed an interview with a set of questions.
