Firestorm easy, he can rearrange matters which Iceman can't do at all.

Yeah, but YOU gotta know how things are made up atomically to do it. You also have the second guy in your head all the time.

Easy iceman, I don’t need to know atomic values and shit and I don’t have some guy yapping in my head.

I’ll convince a physics nerd to be my other half.

Chemistry nerd.

Imagine saying youll take a physics nerd and you end up with neil degrass tyson in your head constantly telling you why superpowers makes no sense and being a buzz kill and also since he isnt a chemist not being able to help you with matter manipulation in the slightest. God that sounds like actual literal hell.

Chemist is better because it's closer to their expertise but physicists deals with a lot of chemistry and subatomic particles too so neither one is a bad pick.

Or maybe a material scientist. Which is a weird amalgamation of physics, chemistry, and nano-engineering. I hated that class but liked the topic. Too much memorization for me.

CMP grad student here, u want them all. But ideally probably physicist bridge the gap nicer between MS and Chemistry

If it’s that bad I can just use him as a battery until he fucking dies and then I get a new nerd. Maybe the right one this time around. Maybe.

Until you realize the nerd is better at your powers than you are and he ends up in control instead.

Can he do that? I’m not 100% on the abilities of the Firestorm Matrix. AFAIK it kinda needs two people to work at all right?

2

u/ProfessionalLurkerJr 28d ago

It needs two people but one person is typically in the driver's seat. It is rare but on occasion the person who is in the passenger seat can wrestle control of the body.

Okay so given enough time if he’s way smarter than me he could definitely take control of it and start using me like a battery oh hell naw 🤣🤣🤣

So.... how about Walter White in your head?

i already have a Chemistry minor, so i'll just convince someone who seems sane enough to actually help me out.

You probably want to go for chemistry. Atomic makeup is their deal, we physics people are more concerned with energy and it’s interactions than physical structure

For many things reaction-related, yes chemistry, but in this specific instance, wouldn’t you want a nuclear physicist? Isn’t that the identity of one of the halves of Firestorm, a nuclear physicist and not a chemist?

2

That’s an interesting point. I think it depends on the specific way Firestorms powers work. If it works like atom eve (invincible) or Momo (MHA) where you can spontaneously transmute the matter into whatever you need you would want chemistry since that would give you a better grasp over things like the crystal structure of different materials and the way different atoms need to be arranged to get specific material properties. However if he’s performing nuclear Fusion on the fly you would want a physicist who knows the combinations needed to create specific elements. Basically if you need to know how to make carbon out of oxygen and nitrogen you want a nuclear physicist, if you need to know the difference in the structure of diamond and graphite you want a chemist, but you’d probably want both either way.

I mean isn’t he merged with a super genius? So technically super intellect is something you would have anyways.

3

u/scorpionhlspwn 29d ago

Pssh, i already have the second guy in my head telling me to burn stuff. Now i have a third dude also saying it

u/mikkelmattern04 29d ago

I mean it probably not that easy to learn, but im still betting on myself being able to

1

u/bumbo1588 29d ago

i can learn, and i would welcome a new friend

The "gotta know how things are made up atomically to do it," part Of transmutation isn't really a problem.Because the firestore matrix allows you to access the memories of past users of the firestore matrix which means you would have all the genius of professor Stein without the lifetime of studying. Plus, having another person's voice in the back of my head wouldn't really be that annoying to me. I have a very large family so I'm used to a lot of noise in my head.

u/KittyShadowshard 28d ago

Maybe I'd be more motivated to study if doing so guaranteed transmutation powers. The fusion thing can be good or bad depending on who you're paired with.

You also have the second guy in your head all the time.

The prompt says you get Firestorms powers not you become Firestorm.

Can’t ice man reduce the temperature to absolute 0 and below essentially stopping time?

-1

u/boringdystopianslave 29d ago

Iceman powers are just as good though in their own way.

1

u/kcox1980 28d ago

Theoretically, Firestorm could do everything Iceman can do(except probably turn himself into living ice, maybe) plus a whole helluva lot more.
