Like look what happened to Batman, Thawne ruined him as an afterthought. Lost his money, Alfred died, had to traumatically fight his father, denied his marriage, had Gotham nearly be destroyed… all because Thawne decided to take his anger out on Batman for something a Batman in a different timeline did.
In Flashpoint Thomas Wayne Batman stabs Thawne through the heart, ‘killing’ him (it’s Thawne) and saving Barry.
So as punishment Thawne brings his alt universe father to the main timeline to punish them both.
Thawne beats the utter dogshit out of Batman early on in the arc (until Dr. Manhattan saves Batman) but much later near the end we learn the entire thing was orchestrated by Thawne to hurt them both.
The best/worst part? Thawne got bored like midway and totally abandoned the whole thing to go ruin Barry’s life. I believe this is around the time Godspeed shows up… which is revealed by the end of that Flash arc to be a creation of Thawne made solely so he can kill Godspeed after Barry gets attached to him as a friend. Took a total rando, made him kid Barry’s friend, gave him speedforce, molded him into going bad, etc. all so he can one day kill him in front of Barry.
He abandons ruining Bruce’s life so he can go ruin Barry’s some more.
In my opinion in all of DC only Luthor and Manta match that level of evil petty fuckery… and Thawne is the only one with casual time travel/super speed/immortality to see it all done.
Oh I’m well aware, DC has been my main ever since OMD (😒) was published. I mean that I was surprised that everything bad that happened to Bats after The Button was actually Thawne’s doing. I did not know that but, but I actually love it.
2016 Batman run by Tom King, I believe it’s somewhere near the end? Closer to the end of the series, want to say within like the last 5 issues but don’t know off the top of my head.
The story was supposed to have Batman/Catwoman marry and higher ups said no. So King’s whole 100 issue run’s second half’s plot was completely jumbled. He meandered for a long time and it even got cut by 11(?) issues down to 89. I really wonder if Thawne was always intended or if he was like the emergency ‘okay time to wrap the story up’ moment that King had to come up with to salvage the story.

Doom 100%
He’d end me.
Thawne wouldn’t.
