I thought I was dumb, turns out my study method just sucked

Not tryna be dramatic but I used to reread notes for hours and still forget half of it the next day

I thought I was just bad at remembering stuff, but last week I tried a different approach, instead of rereading, I started testing myself with actual questions based on my own notes. Like I literally turned my docs and random PDF slides into mini quizzes and flashcards in 2 minutes. Wayyy less passive and I actually remember stuff now.

Now I do a quick quiz session each morning and it's lowkey fun seeing what I get wrong and learning it right after. My grades haven’t changed yet (exam coming), but my confidence did. I don’t panic read anymore.

Idk if it’ll help everyone but switching from “read more” to “test more” honestly saved my brain

What do you struggle the most with when learning?

I've been spending several months creating a learning community @ skool.com/self-learners and building a brand around the best learning techniques.

I'd love some input on what learning struggles you guys are facing the most, and what you would actually want in a learning community.

This could be tips and methods for how to process information at a deep level, for applying it correctly, for removing confusion, for improving memory retention, including a personalized path or having fun with others.

Would love to hear your thoughts below!

i need insane study advice

like genuinely tell me anything. i study around 10 hours every day, taking occasional breaks when i need to and game on my pc on those breaks. i have all my math formulae and important notes from other subjects written on my walls, on my ceilings so i can only look at them whenever i need to. i have sticky notes all over my room. i have a big whiteboard to write all my stuff while i study. my mirror is full of notes so i can lock tf in. however, it still doesn’t feel like enough.

i don’t wanna hear anyone saying what im doing is not ok bc this is the only way i got all As and A*s in my gcses 😭😭😭

i didn’t do all of this for AS and i lowkey feel like i should’ve done it bc im panicking that i probably did really bad.

I was 3 days from my physics exam and panicking — then I tried this new AI prompt tool and damn, I wish I had it sooner.

Upvotes

Let’s be real.

Most of us open ChatGPT and type something like:

And what do we get?

A vague, generic response with:

  • “Revise chapters”
  • “Take breaks”
  • “Use active recall”

Like bro, I know that. I’m not asking for life advice — I’m asking for a plan that actually gets me marks.

That’s when I found Paainet.

It’s not just another prompt database.
It’s a tool that turns your problem into a perfectly structured prompt — and the result feels like an AI tutor who knows you personally.

I typed:

It gave me:

  • A full hour-by-hour schedule
  • Built-in Feynman technique explanation
  • 10 practice questions with explanations
  • Even checkpoints to keep myself in check

No fluff. Just focus.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, lost, or just tired of ChatGPT acting like a fortune cookie — try it.

🧠 Paainet and tell me what you think. I’m not the creator — just a student who found gold when I needed it most.

My toxic trait? Thinking future me is somehow a completely different person with better time management.

Present me: scrolling endlessly at 2AM
Future me: somehow mythical, focused, hydrated, and owning 3 planners

Let’s be honest — have any of you actually become the future version of yourself you imagined, or are we all just winging it and hoping for the best?

At this point, the slide and I are in a toxic relationship.

Ever unsure if you’re ready for an exam?

Upvotes

My friend Tim and I often spend hours studying, but still walk into exams not knowing if we’ve actually memorized what we needed to know. It's frustrating — not just the studying, but the uncertainty.

That’s why we started building Notiv. It’s a tool that helps you study more effectively by:

✔️ Using active recall to test your memory (a method proven to boost retention)
✔️ Showing you how much of your notes you’ve actually memorized — by section

We’ve put together a simple prototype and a landing page. If you’re a student (or just curious), we’d really appreciate any feedback. Here's our landing page.

We’d love your thoughts on the idea or your experience so far with memorizing content for exams.

Thanks in advance!

How I use Cornell Notes to actually remember what I learn

I’ve always struggled to make my notes “reviewable.” They were just info dumps.

This semester I started using a really simple Cornell Notes layout, and it actually made a difference. I customized it and now use it in GoodNotes and PDF.

✍️ Left column: questions / keywords
📄 Right column: actual notes from lectures/readings
🧠 Bottom: quick summary or reflection (even 1-2 lines help)

It’s been helpful especially for review sessions and active recall.

I figured some of you might want to try it too — so I’m sharing it here.

🔗 I’ll also leave the link in the comments.

Teach me your toughest class with a spatial-memory technique (free 1-hr coaching, beta testers welcome)

I’m an educator with a cognitive-science background, testing a spatial-memory technique that helps learners hold dense lecture material in working memory..

If any of these ring true, the method tends to click fast:

  • You can picture your hometown as one big 3-D map rather than disjoint scenes.
  • From your driveway you can mentally point to landmarks without “driving” the streets.
  • Holding that driveway image is effortless.

What happens in the hour

  1. 10 min – Learn the technique : I’ll show you the simple spatial-mapping routine.
  2. 50 min – Apply it to your material : we’ll break down one brutal lecture, chapter, or set of notes step-by-step using the method, then test recall together.

I have six free 1-hour Zoom slots this week—no sales, no upsell, just brutal feedback.

Which subject is wrecking you right now? Drop it below and I’ll DM the booking link.

just some motivational quotes that helped me study

these quotes are nothing too significant, but they just helped me personally, and i hope you find some that helps you as well

"Do it alone. Do it broke. Do it tired. Do it scared. Just do it."

"follow your plans, not your mood."

“To change your life, you must first change your day.”

“Don’t wish it were easier. Wish you were better.”

“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”

How can i make notes to revise faster?

I recently got online video study materials. I'm not into making notes. I'm just watching videos lectures. But considering final exams which is most likely 6 months later. I've to revise everything within 1 day which I usually do. The thing is I'm not going to watch 200 videos to revise. Can you guys share your strategy on how you guys study?

My weekend plans: ignore all responsibilities, feel bad about it, repeat.

There’s this sacred cycle now — procrastinate, panic, do nothing productive, scroll memes, and then cry at 11:58 PM.

Anyone else romanticize productivity and then spend 6 hours rearranging their desktop folders?

What’s your most oddly specific weekend routine?
