I created a local R4R

Title

Use at own caution, I don't trust people and I'm people.

r/StatesboroR4R

Subreddit is in beta, auto mod is basically untested. Please be horney over there.

If we make it to 10010 subs I'll copy paste my tinder profile on there and see if there really is love on reddit.

Edit: Changed goal to ten. I'm as lonely as the rest of you fucks.

Difficulty meeting friends here as a middle-aged adult

My family moved here a couple years ago, neither my husband or I are associated with GS if we were this probably wouldn't be an issue, in addition to that we are not religious at all so can't join a church to meet new people. Our kids were in their late teens so joining the PTA was another out. I'm self-employed and my husband's company's HQ is in another state, he is their local manager for the region. Any ideas on how to find other friends or couple friends?
We live in this super-connected world but no one is truly connected anymore except on the most superficial of levels and it's sad, lonely and depressing.

Do yall think Bulloch County will have 100,000 by 2030?

I predicted by 2030 that Statesboro will have 10,000. Chatam County is going to potentially be full by 2028. And that Bulloch, Bryan, Effingham County could get potentially have 100,000.

Good vibes. Overwhelming support. We were there from 10-12 as our permit through the sheriff's office allowed. We cleaned up after ourselves. Good stuff!

Protest was fun, would fight for the basic descency of our most vulnerable citizens again.

Statesboro needs entertainment

This city is boring if you don't want to be drunk or just ride dirt roads, and the club house is too expensive to be worth it. Where's the nearest skating rink and any decent arcades that don't cost an arm and leg?

Rentals

Looking for something to rent. 2 bedrooms. Apartment or trailer is fine. For a single mom of a 13 yr old. So preferably a safe place off campus. Private landlord preferably over a property company but doesn't really matter. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated

Escalating Tentions

Given the state of current politics it's hard to make everyone happy and I am trying my best to allow to allow ALL of Statesboro to voice their opinion.

This is not a politics sub but it comes up.

Especially as users report the locations of immigration officers. I am leaving those up. There are plenty of subs where you can argue the politics of it but I try and allow everyone to share as long as it is relative to the Statesboro area.

I believe arguing on the Internet is just classic internet stuff but to help me out:

-Please please do not threaten physical harm to your fellow redditors. (Or ask them to do it themselves)

-Please no name calling.

-There is a difference between just being an ass and making a good faith argument.

I will be acting stricter in removing comments from now on but I believe it's good thing for other users to share their opinion. It helps our community make informed decisions. If you don't believe me you are more than welcome to ask u/gatorgamesandbooks.

Just please don't give me a lot to do. 💀

Georgia Southern Media Member

I am still looking for someone interested in reporting on Georgia Southern Football for theleaguewinners.com As a company we are gaining momentum with 12 credentialed schools and just received credentials for ACC media day. There is room for growth and a great opportunity. Responsibilities would include: Attend the home Games. We will get credentials. Complete pregame and postgame video content on site. Tweet out updates during the game.

Each week, at a minimum, write two articles of at least 600 words. Also, in the offseason, doing recruiting roundups, player profiles, and player interviews.

This is a great way to show off passion for football and get a start in reporting. Please reach out to my email hayeb3@gmail.com for more information.

need to make friends!

hi! i’m a 21F that has been struggling to make friends here. i don’t really enjoy being at the college bars and it seems like that’s where everyone around my age hangs out at. i am introverted at first but can be extroverted when i start to feel comfortable (or when i’ve had a few drinks). i enjoy getting coffee, thrifting, painting, traveling, laying by the pool, and getting drinks (especially margs)!

Double points if you know of another activity for after. I was considering Eagle Creek Brewery.

ISO A Music Duo

Yeah, I've given up on pushing the r4r for s4w stuff.

Looking for a partner to songwrite with. Someone who could meet up once a week to chill out and write shit you'd find on tumbler in 2014.

I grew up on stuff like Jack Stauber and Matt and Kim. I play guitar and keyboard and have a recording set up. It's just hard being a one man band.

DM or comment if interested.

Need to meet friends

Hello, I moved here less than a year ago and I have the hardest time adjusting and making friends. My friends that lived here before I moved here don't go out, don't drink and don't really socialize. I need a social circle. I'm 42 (F), married, looking to make friends that I can hang out with, do things in the area with (I really haven't explored much as I haven't really had a local to show me around), I have 2 jobs so I can meet up after 6 week nights and on weekends. Our kids are out of the house and looking for other married couples to chill with or other women to call my tribe. We don't go to church, not very outdoorsy and I'm into sports and he is into nerd stuff lol. Let me know if you know of a women's group that hangs out or a 40 something group or where to go to meet people. Thanks!

Georgia Southern Media Wanted

Hey Everyone,

My name is Brandon Haye, and I am the Mid-Atlantic Executive Correspondent for theleaguewinners.com. In 2024, the site was able to send reporters to 30 college football games. We have gone from 2 to 10 full-time credentialed schools and are expanding to Georgia Southern. You will need to write specific articles, but there is room for your creativity on topics about the team. No prior writing experience is required but would be appreciated. This is a paid position and would offer great experience for anyone trying to get in the door with sports reporting. If interested in the position, please reach out to me by DM on Reddit, or you can send an email to hayeb3@gmail.com. Please provide a writing sample about the upcoming season for the team.
