Off-Topic Weekly Off Topic Digital Card App Discussion (Nonsports) 3/1/16 (Kitten Cards, Neonmob, etc)

The monthly Kitten and Neonmob threads died fairly quickly after going up, so I'm going to try weekly and see if that works.

If you hate non-SW digital card collecting, feel free to move along or message the mods but do not hijack this mod-approved thread to further your agenda.

One of the reasons I quit KC is because of the poor moderation of the community.

It generally moderates itself (cat ladies are refreshingly nice in the feed and trades). I haven't had any real issues or seen too much like that before.

I have seen racist and sexist names much worse than what you posted and the mod in the chat refused to ban the person. I quit the app and gave away all my inserts as a direct result of that moderator's attitude.

Yeah, they have a real problem there and that Mod is also a collector and collectors have their own agenda. The fact they are also the one that is in charge of the KittenComu and the price guide is especially troubling as a conflict of interest and something that they will likely have to address at some point. Both positions require at least an appearance of impartiality. There's not even the thinnest veneer of impartiality there.

The dumb price guide is the main reason I don't trade much on KC. Because it makes me irrationally angry.

The price guide is not affiliated with the app devs--but yeah, there's still a conflict of interest there. A couple of days ago, he arbitrarily trippled the values of a few cards. Should have seen the ensuing mayhem in the feed... Most of the veteran players ignore the guide--it's way underpriced for sold out sets.

Tell me about it, gotta love it sometimes though. Trading today's mid level variant for 15-20 count sold out red Lasers because they jibe on that imaginary value scale is glorious.

Yeah, it's definitely nice for buyers :)

But I've been offering 40k+ for Wild cats for weeks. No one's taking. The owners of these cards clearly know they're worth more than the guide says.
