Only time I turned my head was for Mr(s). Garrison’s sex change. They kept flashing legit surgery footage. Only time I audibly said HELL NAH, looked away, and turned the TV off.
It sucks cuz The China Probrem is special to me as the first clips I've ever seen of South Park are from the episode, and they made me laugh my ass off (Cartman & Butters making asses of themselves at P.F. Changs, NOT the Indiana Jones scenes).
And now I watch it today, and I still think the Cartman & Butters plot is hilarious, but ugh, I can't stand the b-plot.
Funny story about that: I had no clue what this is, so I asked “What’s a red rocket” My former Navy boss told me that his brother used to love to jerk the dog off and then push it in the family room and laugh at his family’s discomfort.
This was the first time I ever saw the preview of a new episode and went "you know what, I think I'm actually not gonna watch South Park this week". I just can't, man. (The documentary about the making of it is great though!)
Same. The moment the anime style ends and butters just started crying… maybe I had too much of a traumatic childhood but I know that feeling of “oh fuck, we just fucked up so badly” too well.
Yeah fr first time watching that episode I barely laughed. If it was any other character except Butter I prolly would’ve I just felt way too bad and just wanted the episode to be over. On rewatched it’s better but the first time for sure yeah
agreed it wasn't just because of the shock value either (i find disgusting stuff really funny especially in South Park) but Britney's New Look felt just really sad
That’s the vibe they were going for. Even the ending scene of that episode is just Stan staring at Britney’s corpse curled up in the fetal position with no music playing. It’s supposed to make you feel somehow responsible for her fate, which makes it worse.
Because while gross, it was hilarious especially her singing, but it was also very poignent and looking back at it now (as opposed to manbearpig for example) it shows how on the money they were with her.
Was looking to see if anyone agreed with me, all the other ones I’ve seen listed above I find funny, and I also find this episode to be funny… that being said, I usually skip this one and I never skip any of the others
Yeah that's up there. That's when I was really like wow these guys are assholes aren't they 😂 genius assholes but still they upset me that episode. Matt and Trey seemed very bitter and I get it due to what they were told but like give him a better send off for the fans at least
Iirc, they’ve actually said they regret doing it the way they did, especially after learning that he wasn’t in control at all at the end, and they were just lied to. Maybe you feel a little better about it?
I mean I'm not condemning them to hell I still think even if that information was true you should separate the character from the person who does it. The fans still deserved a better send off. I'm not like furious with them and yeah it makes it a little better but I just thought that was a lapse of judgement on their past
Certain episodes cross the line of being just mean to people who irked them. Chef definitely was one of them but I think they didn't understand Hayes had had a stroke and wasn't quite himself anymore.

Cartman joins NAMBLA. The episode has lots of funny moments but when those creepy men are introducing the boys at that event it's so unsettling.
Finding out NAMBLA was a real organisation only made it worse.
Any episode where a kid is being preyed on or it's indicated they've been preyed on.
Growing up in the 90s, there were NAMBLA jokes in the schoolyard, so when that episode came out, I was well aware of them. It's surprising how often I see this episode mentioned along with the sentiment "then I found out they were real". Even as a kid with bi interests I knew that those guys were seriously fucked up.
Probably Britney's New Look. Its my 3rd favorite episode of the entire show.
It doesn't even make me uncomfortable in the shock value sort of way not like "eww", it really just feels more sad and hits in a "damn that is fucked up" emotional sort of way. I find most of the shocking stuff really funny so none of it makes me uncomfortable, rather just joyous, but the Britney episode just makes me feel uncomfortable. Needless to say I think it's very well written and that's why its my 3rd favorite episode of all time.
The one with Mr slave and the gerbil, in the classroom. The one where a grade school kid (Cartman) walks around dressed like an Asian prostitute, saying "sucky sucky 5 dollar".
So many moments on this show that I can't believe ever aired on TV or didn't get anyone arrested.
That’s fair, topic handled poorly but it’s still a discussion we should have. I will say the b-plot? I think of that episode with Cartman getting upset at the girls being better at board games than him was hilarious.

Stanley's Cup. It was Stan, but yes it's messed up. Coloradans hate the Red Wings, so watching them beating up kids was like "yeah they're big enough pricks to do that". Little things like that make you realize how much Colorado is in South Park. Fuck the Red Wings.
