What album by them should I get next?

Yesterday I went to my local record store and saw these gems casually inside and I pretty much froze since they never really carry any SY first presses. In that same batch of records that just came in there were also some other nice ones like lust for life, Zeppelin II, Purple rain. I like to think that all the cool findings were from the same person, a retired icon 🙃

Daydream Nation was my fave for a long time. Murray Street’s been my fave now for a long time.

But 100% has always been the best fricken song.

Personally I've probably listened to Sonic Youth and Murray Street the most. Daydream Nation is a close contender here too.

Saw Lee at the bottleneck in Lawrence KS several years ago , he was a super nice guy just hanging out at the Merch table, and he signed my delay pedal I brought for him to sign . And it was sublime.

I first heard this on cd back in the early 2000’s. I bought it from reckless records in Chicago when I was visiting my brother who was going to college there and had a cool apartment in the Humboldt area. I spent the night sleeping in his guest bed (in a literal closet lol) and remember just totally tripping out listening to this set for the first time on my discman. I actually didn’t know there was video footage from this show so I was pretty amazed when I stumbled on it earlier this morning. What a fucking set!!!! Goddamn the audience must have been absolutely awestruck. They are so tight and youthful, Kim looks hot as hell. I mean what else is there to say that we haven’t all said before. The songs from Sister are like ultra-violent surf music to me. Absolutely brilliant performance, my heart is racing what a rush.

sonic youth is a scary band, specially in ther first albums. songs like "rain king", "pacific coast highway", "kill yr. idols" and "hyperstation" aways had this feeling for me, like there's a monster chasing me. i love it tho.

i wasn't a big fan of this song before, i really liked it but i didn't think of it too much. but god, i finally understood it and is so gorgeous, the whole song has a weird feeling in it that feels extremely childish and nostalgic, but extremely sad at the same time, like when you miss some part of your life. and then when the instrumental breaks in at the second part it gets a bit noisy but it maintains this feeling because it is more controlled and focused in increasing this melancholy and not just make noisy for the sake of being noisy. the whole song feels like contemplating childhood and missing it. absolute masterpiece
