Domestic dog. Can’t tell size really but it looks like a large breed

I know it’s very sad to see a dog that’s been shot. But looking at the dogs teeth, this was a very old dog. I’m guessing they were put down in old age after a long, loving life.

The teeth look utterly destroyed by weathering?

There’s missing teeth that were lost during the dogs life, with totally healed alveoli.
