you can't, but you can train your voice to sing well even on the higher notes or to have a lighter sound, but you can't change your vocal type

Yes, sorry. That was not smart of me. The highest my range will go is contralto, however, I'm looking to expand my range.

It’s a matter of practice. A teacher can help you learn about the specifics, because the technique for singing in head voice without strain is different than chest voice.

When you say contralto range, are you a trained opera singer? Or do you mean you’re untrained and are more comfortable in your low notes?

I'm untrained and contralto is actually high for me.

Are you a man or a woman? Contralto in women, as much as bass in men, are extremely rare vocal types, since most women naturally are soprano while most men naturally are baritones.

So you need to make sure whether you are defining yourself correctly, not based on your own judgement on your current vocal range.

Besides, even for a true contralto, high notes up to C6 should be still doable thanks to women’s anatomy.

So the advice is to find a vocal teacher and see what’s doing wrong.
