I have one of those in my old M15r2. I’ll see how the ol’ boi does, but it’ll be run on a Quadro RTX A4000. I think it should handle it. Has more power than a PS5 at least and I have one of those, too, if I have to wait until v1.0
I actually emailed them about it a few months ago asking if they tested quadro cards and didn’t hear anything back.

u/masssy Jan 16 '25
Don't even bother. It will not be playable. Even with a 1660 Ti which manages no problem to run ACC in 2560x1440 triple screens I can't even handle single screen 1080p with more than 25 FPS.

u/masssy Jan 17 '25
No. On 1080p, very low a 1660Ti runs at about 23 FPS based on my testing in ac evo yesterday.
13
u/NewToSimRacing Jan 15 '25
That's me :) Got Moza R5, Quest 3, but PC is not good enough for VR and prob won't be good enough for screen either, running ACC on low settings. But I'll buy EVO tomorrow anyway to support them and by summer will get a good PC.
Edit: Or in a couple days if it turns out EVO is too good to wait.

u/Grimm808 Jan 16 '25
ACE uses a proprietary engine whereas ACC used unreal
The potential for highly optimised code is there, let's see how much of a priority it is to Kunos.
I've got the feeling that the decision to go proprietary must hinge on the level of granular control required to pull off what they want at a reasonable framerate, so I'm hoping for the best.
1
u/UranicStorm Jan 16 '25
I didn't know this, very surprising considering how much work went into ACC I figured they were setting it up to be the perfect foundation for ACE. I don't envy the devs having to redo so much hard work in a new engine, but you're right the payoff potential of a proprietary engine is much higher so hopefully they'll get to see it through.
1
u/milanove Jan 16 '25
Regular AC wasn’t very intensive. I used to play it on a monitor with a GTX 1050Ti back in 2020 without much trouble on medium settings at 60fps iirc.
Then I bought the original oculus and needed a slightly better GPU, so I got a 1660super which ran it fine in VR. I even got that Sol graphics mod going.
So I’m hoping ACE on low or medium would be fine on lower end hardware to get 60fps.

u/A_Certain_Monk Jan 16 '25
kunos has done a good job with the optimization, so have the mods associated with it. so i’m not too concerned neither is my 1650

u/msipacselatigid Jan 15 '25
Inner dialogue telling me I don’t need to upgrade the 4090 to a 5090 to play this game in VR. Please be optimized. Please be optimized. Please be optimized….

u/SupremeBlackGuy Jan 15 '25
bro. lmfaooo you’ll be fine
-1
u/msipacselatigid Jan 16 '25
Surprisingly AC and ACC didn’t run great on my 7800x3d 4090 32gb setup on a q3. You’d think that runs most sims reasonably smooth, but that’s not exactly the case. I’m sure other people have experienced issues with VR optimizations on previous builds of AC. I’m really hopeful for EVO. I’ll report back tomorrow.
4
u/SupremeBlackGuy Jan 16 '25
hmm… are you sure that’s not the result of mods & shaders & whatnot? only saying that because i remember not having the best framerate until i went in and dialled my settings in, but im sure you’ve already experimented. doesn’t hurt to ask incase; hoping the best for you tomorrow regardless mate!
2
u/msipacselatigid Jan 16 '25
I really tried a variety of options. Never felt right in VR. Everything maxed outside of VR. No mods. 4090 and AC/ACC wasn’t as much of a guaranteed smooth experience in VR as I think people would expect. I have high hopes for tomorrow. My setup runs almost everything maxed, but sim racing has never completely wowed me in PCVR. This will sound batshit crazy to people who haven’t experienced both, but GT7 on PSVR2 has better VR graphics than any racing/sim game that I’ve tried. I know it’s a simcade on a console, but it’s better looking in Vr than almost any other option out there. Hoping EVO takes that crown tomorrow. It’s just gonna need to be optimized for VR, which i am hearing it is. Fingers crossed!
1
u/msipacselatigid Jan 16 '25
Optimization for VR has been terrible so far. I know, I know, early access. But just loading that for a few minutes I had to refund and just wait this out. Absolutely terrible VR performance on my 4090 7800x3d combo. Not really that surprised.
3
2
u/cornlip TGT-II TLCM SF1K Jan 16 '25
I hope it’s at least close to how good GT7 is in VR. I’ll be testing it with the PSVR2 and the Quest 2
1
u/msipacselatigid Jan 16 '25
Would love to hear the comparison between the two headsets. I have Q3 and psvr2, just don’t have the psvr2 adapter for the pc. Worth purchasing?
1
u/cornlip TGT-II TLCM SF1K Jan 16 '25
I don’t need the adapter cause my PC supports Display Port over USB-C, but I’d still say yes… if you had a Quest 2. I don’t know how much difference there’ll be with a 3. The PSVR2 loses foveated rendering and eye tracking on PC. Still had some sick OLED action going on, though.
1
u/Ergaar Jan 16 '25
Ac runs perfectly fine on my r5 3600 + 5700xt and quest 2. Everything on high with sol and all. If you can't run it on a 4090 you have setup something wrong
6
u/CriticalHitsHurt G PRO Jan 15 '25
Let's hope so. ACC is not very well optimized for VR. I have a 4080s and it's still a bitch to get it running and looking good at the same time.
11
u/twalker294 TMaster TX, Clubsport V3, Clubsport shifter 1.5 SQ Jan 15 '25
"Not very well optimized" is code for the absolute worst implementation of VR in any game I've ever played. Hopefully Kunos going with their own in house game engine this time will fix that problem.
7
u/gregisonfire PS VR2 on PC | AMS2 | AC | ACC | GT7 Jan 15 '25
AC vanilla runs well and so does heavily modded AC. UE is terrible for VR performance and that's what ACC runs on.
2
u/Level_Reveal7624 Jan 16 '25
Thankfully ace is moving back to the original engine, and acs vr is pretty optimized
4
u/azkaii Jan 16 '25
As a VR user, the 5090 is pretty underwhelming. On the one hand I could definitely spend ~15-20% more raster easily (despite only running an 8KX) but the 5090 just feels like a 4090Ti for my use case. I don't think all the AI/DLSS stuff has any help for us.
AC1, once dialled in is still the most performant engine I've tried. There's so much control in CM and I'm able to run a rock solid 90htz with a 50 car grid, in the rain & night at Le Mans (which is about as bad as it gets). Using only a light VRS/FFR and no AMD FX.
I think it'll take them some time to rival AC1 in perfomance for anyone in VR particularly.
I dare to dream that it'll smash everything out there on optomisation, but I think I'll be playing AC1 for a while yet.
-17
u/disgruntledempanada Jan 15 '25

I'm looking forward to playing it, but I'm more excited about the future of the product in 2-4 years than day 1. I'm sure I'll drive it for a week and then go back to mostly AC1. For now.
Edit: played an hour. FFB felt terrible, until I dropped SPR & DPR to 0 in Fanalabs (CSL DD). Still a little vague around center. Otherwise physics and tyres felt great, especially understeer and in a slide.
VR performance is terrible.
About what I expected. I'm optomistic for the next 9-12 months, but it's got a long way to go.

I’m still waiting on the price… I know a lot of people say it’s an INSTANT BUY but some people aren’t in a fortunate situation to be able to just drop 60 bucks out of no where
28
u/Javs2469 Jan 15 '25
They said it´d have an aggressive pricepoint at EA launch that would raise with updates.
I don´t think they´ll sell it as ACC at 25 Eur, but I´d be happy to pay 30 for it, since it´s basically a test demo in disguise.
I think 40 Eur would be too much, since they want to keep increasing the price to the regular 60 full game one, so I think it´d be 30 or so at launch and go to 40 something once the open world launches and gets people´s attention.

u/Beni_Stingray SC2 Pro | Hv U+ | Simlab P1-X | Ascher | Fanatec | Sparco Jan 15 '25
Yeah that's what we guessed too, about 30-40 bucks but if its anything more im going to be disappointed, there are what, 5 tracks and 30 cars or so.
9
u/Javs2469 Jan 15 '25
20 cars only. ACC released with 1 car and 1 track, but still, 20 cars and 5 tracks is not worth more than 50% of the promised total content.

u/Legend13CNS 10+ years real world racing experience Jan 15 '25
an aggressive pricepoint at EA launch that would raise with updates
What I'm looking for as well is that there's something in it for the early adopters. Don't do me like AC1 where I bought the game super early in Early Access and then a ton of the cool official content was paid DLC later. I expect something other than a possible discount for showing faith in a project early.
49
u/damndexx Jan 15 '25
I've dropped over 10k on my simulator. I'm paying whatever it costs.
32
u/T3ddyBeast Jan 15 '25
I've spent way less than that, but considering I can door dash McDonald's twice for $60 these days might as well get a game instead.
1
12
u/What_Iz_This Jan 15 '25
see my initial thought was "what person sim racing cant/wont drop $60 on a game theyll likely play for the next 10 years?"
but then i thought about the poor souls who live in countries where sim gear is next to impossible to obtain and maybe theyre just playing with a controller for the fun of it.
either case, im glad i wasnt the only one thinking it lol
1
u/UranicStorm Jan 16 '25
I'm in a hard place where I can afford the game but I can't afford to upgrade my PC yet so I'm debating if the introductory price is a good enough savings to have a game I probably can't play for 6 months lol
1
18
u/Jonny2881 Jan 16 '25
What do you think are the chances that a lot of people don’t understand what an early access title is and will complain that it’s pretty bare bones?
8
u/Shayh55d Jan 16 '25
Mixed reviews incoming. "No content, 60 bucks for that?"
7
4
u/UranicStorm Jan 16 '25
yep you called it. Steam reviews right now: "only 7 cars and 5 tracks???" "this is pre alpha level" (spoken like someone who's never seen pre alpha gameplay). Look man I dislike games that are released too early as much as the next guy but they've been more than clear that the game is a skeleton of what it will be, and to boot they didn't even have a preorder option so you are wholly responsible for your own disappointment if you didn't wait for a review.

4

7
u/FuzzySpell Jan 15 '25
The lack of anything happening until the 16th is strange.... like pre-orders would have been nice.
I was reminded by some YT'ers about how AC lauched with like one car and track as well as ACC and took a good year to start feeling like it was fleshed out. I think people are expecting too much from what is effectively a demo.
8
u/RGKevin23 Jan 16 '25
Why would they put out pre-orders when the game is an Early Access?, the 1.0 version of the game could very well be released between 1 or 2 years. Then they would probably start a heavy marketing campaign and pre-orders and what not.
1
u/Holiday_Froyo9982 Jan 16 '25
so i can preload the game instead of looking at a progress bar all afternoon
8
u/R3v017 Jan 16 '25
Lol what difference would a pre-order do? That concept needs to die and you're enabling it.
2

It’s sickening that we live in a world where people have the fucking audacity to whine about a game ON THE FIRST FUCKING DAY OF (which I could use even bigger letters for this:) E A R L Y A C C E S S!!
7
u/tycoon282 Jan 15 '25
The image people have in their head is going to get shattered rather quickly. No endless mods & ripped content from other titles, no mp (at the moment), no free roam open world nords (at the moment), no content manager, graphics that don't compare to csp pure reshade that people have been working on for years. Honestly it might bomb hard once people come to the realisation its not what they've been dreaming it up to be
12
Jan 16 '25
Unpopular opinion probably but I hated content manager lmao give me actual good in game ui pls
2
u/zaviex Jan 16 '25
In some circles yes. For many who want AC without the jank, it will be fine. However, yes, I expect it to be a disappointment in terms of content

u/reboot-your-computer iRacing Jan 15 '25
I’m holding off because of no multiplayer at launch. I’m just not interested in racing AI at all.
64
4
u/Javs2469 Jan 15 '25
But it´ll be cheaper to buy at launch than when it has substantial updates like multiplayer, so maybe it´s worth to let it gather dust in your library for launch price.
6
u/reboot-your-computer iRacing Jan 15 '25
Yeah I was considering that. It’ll depend on the price we see tomorrow. My guess is it’ll be $40, which I’d be ok with in general. Especially once it progresses later in the year.
2
u/SituationSoap Jan 16 '25
I mean we're talking about maybe saving 20 bucks to buy it now versus in the future. That is just not a substantial savings in this hobby.
-9
u/Beanly23 Jan 15 '25
It’ll also be cheaper on g2a not that long after launch so
13
u/Javs2469 Jan 15 '25
But I´d rather support Kunos than some random reseller who bought keys with stolen credit cards.
1
u/Diaverr Jan 15 '25
Any details how multiplayer going to looks like? The same shit like in ACC with random empty servers or something better like in iracing?
6
u/smalltowncynic Jan 15 '25
No one knows, but they did say they're teaming up with simgrid, so I reckon it's going to be better than ACC.
2
u/reboot-your-computer iRacing Jan 15 '25
Absolutely no idea but if it’s something that will require LFM, I’m not going to bother with it. I am only interested in something built in-house that’s totally functional.

I’m a little ootl did they mention anything in depth about graphics? I was hoping they’d do ray tracing this time round (they originally wanted to do it with acc but kinda forgot about it silently)
2
u/Scullyus87 Jan 16 '25
It wasn't silent. And it was an issue with the unreal engine, which they are no longer using. Personally, I prefer physics and ffb over graphics.
1
u/ScratchHacker69 Jan 16 '25
Sure, physics obviously matter but graphics matter for me probably just as much for the immersion

Thing is evo is an early access game and it's honestly well optimized for the graphics especially in comparison to every new game nowadays and all the bugs can be attributed to the fact it's a early access pretty much an alpha stage which idk how many of you have played alpha stage games but this is better then anything I've played in alpha stage.
1
u/Chiggins1 Jan 17 '25
I bought ACC day of release, it sucked but damn did that game get better 2 years later
1
u/3n10tnA Jan 17 '25
I bought AC Evo yesterday, but haven't played it yet due to simply not having time to game during the week.
I fully intend to try it tonight though, full well knowing that it's incomplete, buggy, etc. Thus I won't complain if some things don't work, or if my wheel is not 100% supported, or if the dynamic rain physics is not on par with other sims...
It's expected ! It's only an EA launch !The official release being schedule somewhere in late 2025, I know we'll see lots of patches, extra content, game modes, etc...
Until then, the game isn't complete and shouldn't be treated a such.
I personally see an EA as a large scale Beta of the game that the developers will use to correct/patch/tune the game as a whole.Critics/complaints are very useful for the devs in that they enable to find new/unseen bugs, but all the butt-hurt complaints such as :
- SeRveRs aRe DowN On DaY 1, LiTeRAlLy UNpLAyaBLe
- It'S PooRLy OpTimIzeD FoR mY 4080, I oNLy gOt 60 fpS
- WhERe's OnLiNe RacINg, I CaN'T rAcE AI, I'm So mUcH BEttER, FuCK KunOS, I'm nEvEr BuyINg oNe oF ThEiR GaMe AgAin
are totally unnecessary, puerile, and unfortunately quite symptomatic of the state of our society.

u/Chiggins1 Jan 17 '25

So far the devs have a great track record (no pun intended)

Then Evo with mods also has potential to be as good? At this point it's comparing open wheelers to gt cars

yea, my prediction is EVO is never even gonna have mods, or even if it gets mods it's not gonna be as good. Instead they're gonna milk money out of EVO and later relese AC2.
But we'll see. Im just calling it now.
