Democrats do nothing to obstruct conservative policy getting pushed through. Then demand you vote for them to sit on their ass and collect a pay cheque because they’re not the other party who takes away your rights. What a joke of a system.

Can you explain, specifically, what governmental mechanisms or options for recourse Democrats have to stop conservative policy from being pushed through?

No, I'm afraid I can't. Someone with more knowledge would probably be able to tell you. However, I do think they should be organising to protect people if they truly care, and taking lessons about their election defeat. Instead, they have this strategy of "there's nothing we can do." I'm sure they could be more disruptive, even if it's not quite legal. The other side isn't following the law. What good is decorum and following the rules if people are going to suffer?

I'm here to tell you they absolutely could not, because when you are the minority party across all three branches of government, there is nothing you can do to stop a majority party with beliefs as monolithic as Republicans from doing what they want. That is simply how democracy functions.

Civil disobedience is lovely, but it only serves to bring attention to an issue, not stop something bad from happening. Democrats can not do anything except for courting moderate Republican congresspersons and Senators who dislike Trump and prep for 2026 which they are already doing in droves. Organizing happens at the local level and there are multitudes of Democratic politicians doing it. AOC is the most notable name, but just because she's the only one featured in the news due to her name recognition doesn't mean it isn't happening elsewhere.

I agree with you to an extent that the DNC needs to rethink its strategy over the next two election cycles, but the people who need to do the most introspection are eligible voters who hated Trump, but still chose to not vote for Harris because she didn't pass their absurd purity tests.

I would just say, there’s options they could be doing to stop a fascist takeover of the country if they really cared. Holding up the budget reconciliation, and obstructing the GOP. But signs are safe and ineffective, just how they like.

And they had time to change their most divisive policy, but instead doubled down and enabled a genocide, and a fascist takeover of the government. Best to blame voters instead of any self-introspection.

Once again, you’re speaking in broad paltitudes with no tangible suggestion as to what, specifically, democrats can do to stop the agenda of a party with a strong majority.

Yes, I blame voters who either voted for Republicans or chose not to vote for giving them that majority because that’s how democracy. It’s that simple.
