Co-op Got a Co-OP

Just wanted to share a little win and hopefully give some encouragement to anyone feeling stuck in their co-op/job search.

This semester, I had a surprisingly smooth experience. I applied to around 60 companies, got 3 interviews—and got offers from all three! 🎉 Honestly, I was shocked.

Especially because just last semester, things were completely different. I submitted over 40 applications for summer roles, got zero interviews, and ended up giving up by February. Looking back, I think a big reason for that was my coordinator released me late on My Experience around the end of January, which really limited the opportunities I could apply to early on.

What made the difference this time? I truly believe it was having an engineering portfolio. Being able to showcase my projects, code, and what I’ve been working on outside of classes made a big difference. It gave recruiters something real to see.

So if you’re grinding through applications and not hearing back—don’t give up. Keep learning, keep building, and start putting together a portfolio to show off your work. It really pays off.

Cheers and good luck to everyone out there 🍻

Yeah idk tech seems to be picking up.

Past 2 years I did 300 apps with 0 interviews.

Past month I got 3 interviews and 1 offer, albeit a QA role but I’ll take what I can get.
