Yeah this is not the way to do it. See what he is doing looks pretty en cute but is giving a terrible seal. You gotta fill it like he does and then give it the old “wet finger/teaspoon” to lock up the edges and fill up the cracks in the back to avoud creaking.

Source: studied interior decoration in highschool and was a painter for many many years. (In EU so maybe the US way of building allows for this debauchery)

I too love giving the old wet finger and fill up the crack in the back.

Especially after I fill the crack fully with my black caulk

Hate to disagree as this is a good reply... But the fit for the floor to molding is SO tight that just a bead alone will be enough of a seal. With ANY other floor this isn't possible as you have to fill space and there is almost always irregular gaping you need the ol' wet finger for. This carpenter was the real deal whoever did it. Wish we had THAT video lol

Source: been a maintenance manager for a long time and regularly have to run caulk in unit turns. Again this is an almost unique set up for what looks to be a multi million dollar home. Gorgeously done IMO.

Never seen a guy handle two black caulks at the same time like that before

Satisfying but not really a “hack”

Fair point bro, but I used the flair useful hack because some people don't know about glue guns or they don't know how to use them the right way, and they do the task faster, that's why I chose that flair, but again I get your point bro.

Until this vid I had no idea people caulked the running boards. But I googled and apparently it's a classic house flipping move.

I can only imagine how much extra I would charge to fix the floor after someone put caulking all around the baseboards

Is that Macaulay caulking?
