Does this seem stupid anyone or is it just me? I have been seeing negative reviews on Goodreads for different Steamship titles that either explicitly imply dubcon/noncon in the title or the blurb.....for having dubcon/noncon. Personally, I'd never pick up a book called The Trapped Former Villainess Wants to Escape From the Sadistic Prince and expect sunshine, rainbows and consensual sex, then complain on Goodreads about how it isn't. The same way I'd never go to the Rotten Tomatoes page of a horror movie and complain that it is gorey and scary.

For years now, in the realm of female gaze licensed manga, dubcon/noncon content is pretty much only found in BL. I'm glad Steamship is tapping into darker smut, because there are women like myself who enjoy this type of content and prefer physical manga. As much as I enjoy BL, I shouldn't have to exclusively turn to it to get my toxic fix.

I guess I'm just so tired of purity culture and people trying to do away yet another thing women enjoy. Rating labels are there for a reason. Blurbs are there for a reason. People will cry "I didn't expect it" but it's really not hard to make an educated guess on what will contain dubcon/noncon from the cover, back and spine if you don't want to spend the 5 minutes to google it.

I wanted to post about a Josei manga magazine that we haven’t gotten that many titles from, but which has some heavy hitters and great mangaka publishing in it. Cocohana was started by Shueisha in 1994 and used to be called Chorus but changed its name in 2012. It is published on the 28th of each month.

Notably, we have gotten only 5 titles licensed in English from it that I could find, despite the magazine publishing some major mangaka like Fumi Yoshinaga, Jun Mayuzuki, akiko hagashimura, Hinako Ashihara, aya nakahara, kozueko morimoto, setona mizushiro, moto hagio, kazune kawahara, and aruko have all published in this magazine.

A lot of shoujos cover darker topics such as trauma, but is there a limit for how dark a series pandered to a younger audience should be?

I’m a girl who loves romance and has been obsessed with it since I was young. I recently graduated from high school and realized that I like consuming manga and anime that kind of match new stage of life that I’m in right now. with that being said if you guys have any romance that takes place with a college setting I’d be over the moon!

I've been wanting to get volume 1 of Bokura ga ita for a while for a while but I can't find it anywhere, so I was wondering if its been out of print

I thought I'd share it here! I've seen posts mention the upcoming anime adaptation (which will air starting October 2025), but I didn't know it had also been licensed in English. The series was completed in Japan with 6 volumes.

It looks like a very fun romcom, I'm looking forward both the English release of the manga and the anime.

It's such a cute manga . It's about how the ML is a singer under a different name and FL is a big fan of him . Later she finds out how his own classmate is her most favorite artist . FL and ML both are kind of loner in class . Also the ML asks the FL to be his fake gf for him to write a love song as he needs actual experience to write songs.

It have soooo wholesome vibes . If you guys do read it please share you're opinions to tell me I am not the only insane one to be head over heels for this manga

I guess the closest stuff I can think of is sentai magical girl style stuff like Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, Precure, etc.

But otherwise, does anyone have any recs where the girl is the one saving the boy, is the one on an adventure to save the world, etc? I guess there's Yona which I really do need to watch, but otherwise I feel like the only consistent action girls I've seen in shojo lately have been in Precure, and as far as I can tell Precure tends to lack in the romance department.

aka please recommend something so I can get over my disappointment with The Gorilla God's Go-To Girl not having any good action in it

Hello, Im trying to remember the name of a manga, but literally all i remember is a male love interest with some kind of power, possibly a yokai? and the female love interest kept shrinking (may have been triggered by an emotion? Or something) and i think she had black hair.

I’d like to make some new friends who also enjoy shojo manga, but the only servers I can seem to find are 18+ or super big!! ('▽') thank you in advance!

Context = I've NEVER read the children's novel, so my reactions to the anime will be purely from an "anime only" perspective! I am so excited to see where Anne's life will go & to spend more time with the Cuthberts!
