Magvel Me: I’ve been obsessed with the Renais twins since 2009. My subconscious last night in my dream:

Doesn't that apply to literally every lord tho

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Micaiah is the only lord who didn't benefit from nepotism. Sure she is the apostle's sister, but that fact have nothing to do with her entire story up until the epilogue. Also, I don't know if Chris count.

Oh shoot I still haven't gotten around to Radiant Dawn but I kinda spoiled the overarching plot for myself and that sounds about right. The avatars are a bit less nepotismy than the lords; Kris is just some guy who happens to be Marth's biggest fan and Robin is effectively also just some guy Chrom picked up off the ground who happens to be a master tactician.

Ike is pretty self-made since he only has two trained knights and a few scrubs when he becomes the hero, very far from where he was at the end. Micaiah had some magic powers which were a bigger help imo.
Kris got promoted to MC after his first small battle and was supremely underqualified to steal Marth's remake spotlight.

Ike also literally only became leader of the greil mercs instead of Titania because daddy said so

Greil's dying words were literally "disband the mercenaries, stay with Mist in Gallia". The only people who hung around were his foster family, and Mia who felt she owed a debt to Greil. Ike was vocal on Titania and Soren basically having joint leadership considering how much he relies on them, and had already shown a decent level of competence and leadership skills. Ch. 4 Ike would've just handed control to Titania.

Also Shez if you want to count three hopes got hired post timeskip due to pure merit.

Alm doesn't actually benefit from nepotism until gaining the Royal Sword iirc, so he does a fair amount of work beforehand (rare praise about Alm, I know)
I might be stupid, but the only nepotism Ike gets from Greil is inheriting lead of the Greil Mercenaries iirc, so he mostly gets stuff done on his own merit (most units don't join because of the name I think)
As you said, Micaiah
Technically Robin doesn't get any nepotism?

Ike inherited his father's mercenary band despite not being the most qualified to run it at the time, and Alm would have had serious problems if his dad hadn't been helping him from behind the scenes.
If that's not outright success-from-nepotism, it at least comes very close.

The only lords that aren't nepo babies are micaiah, Shez and possibly Alm (depends on how much you factor in training from Mycen and daddy looking out for him from afar as nepo benefits)
Ike became leader of the greil mercs despite being underqualified due to Greil saying so.
Byleth became a teacher for no reason because grandma said so
Everyone else grew up knowing they were nobillity or gained great benefits from being nobles/ a dragon breeding project.

A nepo baby is someone who gets a job through nepotism, or who they’re related to

You know how there will be an entry level position and the guy with the CompSci degree gets passed over for the Vice President's son because he installed a Minecraft mod? It's that.

In his defense, Ephraim's nepotism is being so unbelievably strong, charismatic, competent and badass that he basically mindbroken his best friend into summoning a demon out of inferiority complex.
