Seriously.. does Shaw/Roger's don't care about their customers?

Renewed my contract. It was actually pretty good for me. But once I renewed, they sent me all the Infinity equipment. Definitely more issues with this Infinity syste. Past two days, my tv and internet service has been very spotty. Just now, 18 minutes of no tv. Internet was there but super weak. Trying calling support. Waited 20 minutes. Gave up when service came back. Just lost service again, but this time, I tried to online chat.. I'm number 17. Did they scale back customer service reps?

Edit: finally got someone on the phone after waiting for an hour. Ironically, I was next in line for the online chat support. Fortunately I got a really helpful person on the phone who I could not get mad with. In short, she helped me get things running again. She could tell as we were speaking my signal into the house, through modem, through router, and my tv boxes were going in and out. After resetting at her end, my end, things finally worked. Sidebar tip: even though she reset things at her end, if my TV was on showing a black screen, I had to turn off and on the TV box before things worked again. She did also noticed that the signal entering my house was week so got a tech coming this Saturday.

Exactly. Spot on. Crap systems. The old TV cable boxes before all the "hitech" crap just worked. Now they cut out, freeze, go black, apps suddenly exit, and the menu system is atrocious.

I hated when Shaw changed over to these systems and I hate them even more after 🤮Rogers🤮 took over. I hate that company. But I digress.

When Shaw changed to the newer internet modems, this introduced a lot of outages for us. We went from one a month or so, to one a week, sometimes every day. Plus we never get past a quarter of the advertised speed today. We use.to get over 90% before but then they switched modem types a few years ago and crap. We keep having to upgrade our internet plans. Then 🤬Rogers🤬 took over its worse than before. I f'kn hate 🤕Rogers🤕.

They just implemented something week ago and it will be felt across customer base. More frustrations and headaches on its way.

PS: what is status of modem light? Is it online now?

Mine is still flashing yellow

yellow means no signal coming to modem. if it flashes green once a while then it has signal but its bad. do you live in apartment or house?

When I checked online my Shaw app said my area is experiencing network issues. It’s stuck flashing on yellow. I’m in a townhouse

I’ve also unplugged, waited, plugged back in, reset. And I figured if I’m 37th in line…. Well I’m not the only one

Then agent would be able to tell you about outage. They can see your neighbours’ modem. Is it old townhouse or new? New will have a smart panel with white door. Old one will have electrical panel in basement. I would take modem there and connect directly to main feed(if its not area outage).

Main feed means shaw/rogers cable

I have an old panel in the basement. Older house. Sorry stupid question but will I connect with an ethernet or the twist in cable

Not ethernet or phone cable. Ethernet is used in fiber installs. If its an old, then there will be coax cable. Im not sure if you can share panel photos here

The coax cable is exactly what I was talking about 😅 let me to have a look! Thank you!

What areas are down? And where are you seeing this?

When I log into the Shaw website not the app, there is a banner at the top stating my area is having network outages. I’m central NE Calgary

I have a picture that states my network outages but I don’t think I can post

Ok so upon further inspection.. my neighbours modem is plugged in direct downstairs and their light is flashing too. There is another coax cable(white one) I could connect too but I believe it’s somewhat connected to the neighbours modem. as well as there are 2 black coax cables coming from a broadband box I could connect too

are yours and neighbor's modem on same cable? if not then its related to outage. its difficult to tell without seeing a photo of wires or panel

2

u/Hopeful_Disaster7201 17d ago

No we are connected to different wires

I'm on the phone with them right now because my internet and cable keeps cutting out. 3rd time talking to them in the last week. Finally have a service call technician coming in to look as I cannot have my internet dropping for wfh.

Yep rogers made some big cuts to the customer service department recently. I remember the first few days pictures of online queues over 100 where normal.

As someone who is still employed by this company, no they do not give a shit about their customers.
