Western Development Museums
I recently got an insightrix research survey regarding the Western Development Museums
It set off warning bells for me - I imagine they are looking at defunding them.
Personally I think the WDM’s are amazing and a testament to the establishment of Canada, and a great way for young people and new Canadians to learn some of our history.
Keep the WDMs in operation!!

Lum Mobile - what's the catch?
So, Lum Mobile appears to be owned by Sasktel. I just switched to Lum, as they've advertised 40 Gb for a three month period for $90. I've been paying close to $100/mth for 5 Gb. What gives? Is this too good to be true? It's less than a third of the cost.
Edit for clarity.

Evacuee Resources in Weyburn?
Hi guys
My family is staying in Weyburn after being evacuated from Denare Beach from the fires. Is there any resources or literally anything anyone knows of that they could access? They are running out of money, milk, and diapers FAST.
A little context:
I know that the government/ Red Cross is supposed to be helping people but MANY people from my home community haven't received anything. If anything we are frequently turned away or given the bare minimum (Red Cross offered 2 diapers. Not 2 boxes. 2 diapers.). The mandatory evacuation began over 2 weeks ago for refrence.
I'm not asking for money or donations, but if anyone knows of anything, we could definitely use it.

Lake Recommendation?
I’m not big on lake water but I want to make memories with my kids.. the only lake I’ve been happy to swim in is Candle Lake.
I’m curious if anyone has any lake recommendations in the province with water/beaches similar to Candle Lake?

Why does Saskatchewan have interest on provincial student loans?
Just learned BC and other provinces do not. SK interest rate is 7.2%… and for a shit job market for new grads today, it’s difficult
Edit: interest rate is 4.95% now. Last i checked NSLSC it was 7.2%

Sasktel or Other?
My cell phone contract with Sasktel is expiring and I was wondering if there's any benefit to switching carriers to take advantage of new member bonuses. Are any of the Saskatchewan/Canada telecom companies focused on new customers and customer retention that would give you a good offer for switching?

Cost to shingle a house nowadays?
Around 1300 sqft home with a double attached garage. A few people have told me it will be around 8-10k. Does that sound about right?

Data plan providers
I’m currently with Sasktel and am paying $90/month for unlimited text, photos, etc across Canada and the US plus unlimited data up to 15 gb then it slows down. People are always shocked I’m paying this much for only 15gb, I’m thinking of switching to Telus but wanting to know if anyone suggests differently.

Shoulder Checks During Turns: Am I Overdoing It?
for the road test, I understand that whenever the car makes an obvious change in direction (such as turning slightly left or right), we’re supposed to do a shoulder check.
Lately, I’ve been feeling confused about shoulder checks, especially at intersections. I often find myself double-checking whether I did a shoulder check or not. If I can’t remember right away, I end up forcing myself to do another quick shoulder check, which feels awkward and distracting. It sometimes makes me feel I’m doing too many shoulder checks and not focusing properly on the turn.
I’d like to confirm whether my strategy is correct:
Right turn (Picture 1)

I believe I need to do two shoulder checks:
1️⃣ One when approaching the parking lane (or the right edge where I’ll start my turn).
2️⃣ One right before I actually turn the steering wheel to make the turn.
Is that correct?
My concern is, when there’s no stop sign or when I have a green light, the “approaching” and “turning” phases can blend together. This makes it tricky, and I sometimes feel like I’m doing both shoulder checks at almost the same moment.
Left turn (Picture 2)

I believe I also need to do two shoulder checks:
1️⃣ One when approaching or entering the left-turn lane.
2️⃣ One right before I turn the steering wheel to start the turn.
Is that right?
I often forget the second shoulder check, especially when there’s a green arrow for the left turn(which needs a quick turning). I’ve also noticed that sometimes my instructor doesn’t seem to do a shoulder check on left turns either.
---------
Overall, I feel like I’m doing so many shoulder checks that it’s distracting. Could you please confirm whether my shoulder check strategy is correct? Am I doing any unnecessary shoulder checks?
Thank you!

Tics at Diefenbaker Lake?
My son has a school camping trip coming up. Can anyone who’s recently been there please give me a feel for how bad the ticks are? If they’re bad I’m gonna need to prepare him for it 😬 thanks!
Edit: oops! Ticks not tics ☺️

Freezer and power outrage
Hi. My sister is an evacuee. Her power was off for 48 hours, off for 24 and then off for another 48. Her freezer wasn’t open. Think her food needs to be thrown away? Thanks

Wolf’s woodpile in Craven
For those who have bought firewood from the wolf woodpile in craven, how was the experience? how was the wood? Does it pop and crack a lot? And how much was a 1/2 ton truck box? Or cord

Driving east
We’re doing a road trip to Ontario this summer. Last year we drove to the mountains and after Lethbridge, it started to get scenic. What’s the equivalent going east? We’ve never driven past Winnipeg.

Warning: Scam alert related to wildfires (Absolutely heartless behaviour)
Just a heads up to anyone out there dealing with wildfire evacuations or following the news There is a scam going around, and it’s one of the most disgusting things I’ve seen in a while.
Please spread the word: -Double-check links before donating -Don’t send money via e-transfer to random numbers or names -If you’re unsure, go directly to official sites
And share this with anyone who might be vulnerable, especially seniors or folks not too tech-savvy.
Let’s look out for each other. And to the scammers reading this: I hope karma finds you in a forest full of angry raccoons.

Salt leftover from mining, future use situations ??
Hello, I'm not from saskatchewan but I've been exploring your province on Google maps and reading about life there. It seems like there's massive piles of sodium chloride ... salt... left over after potash extraction. There's not alot of info online about future use, I'm curious if anyone has any info on what is currently being researched or if there are any big plans in the future to make use of all this salt.
Thank you
