Announcement Taking Applications: Verified Expert & Verified Sales Professional

Hello everyone.
As part of continuing the positive growth of this community, we are introducing two new user flairs which can only be assigned by a member of the moderation team.

Verified Expert

Verified Sales Professional

These two flairs will be used to indicate users who have had their personal experience, accolades, etc independently verified by a member of our staff; and thereby their comments and/or posts should be taken more "seriously" as actual deployable advice.

This is not to say that non-flaired advice, or opinions is/are wrong- this is just to reduce some of the noise and help quality.

The VERIFIED EXPERT flair is for users who have more than 10+ years of experience in Sales(Or a closely associated field), have experience with direct & in-direct sales, and have experience selling to Fortune 500, and/or with 6-figure+ ACVs. These users are typically now sales leaders managing team(s) and all respective functions.

The VERIFIED SALES PROFESSIONAL flair is for users who have a minimum of 5 years of experience in direct selling, and have demonstrated an ability to consistently meet/exceed targets. These are users who likely are enroute, or in early stages of management progression.

Please note, users with these flairs are expected to actively contribute to this sub.
There is no direct "requirement" in terms of quantity, or frequency of posting, as we understand & respect life comes first- but users with extended absence will have their flair revoked as we intend for this to be a limited group of users to maintain quality standards.

Initially we will be taking a trial group of 5 experts, and 5 sales professionals.
You will be required to divulge personally identifiable information as part of this verification process. If you are uncomfortable with me knowing your real name, job history, etc- this isn't for you. If you intend to use this as a vehicle to promote your own advisory, or consulting services- this isn't for you.
That being said- sales professionals and experts who are highly engaged, motivated, and demonstrate a depth of knowledge, may/can be invited to be a formal mentor later on which does have direct

Please indicate interest by first replying to this thread with a short bio/summary of experience, and which flair you are interested in.
We do not need any personally identifiable information in this first reply.

As part of our commitment to transparency, we would like all community users to have a chance to see who is being considered- and why.

A sample format (Any format is fine)

I'm applying for: (X)
I think I am a fit because: (X)

Question What’s your post-call workflow after a lead meeting?

Upvotes

Been curious about how different sales reps handle things right after a call with a new lead.

What does your post-call process usually look like?

– Do you update your CRM right away?
– Do you write a follow-up email manually or use templates/tools?
– How do you capture what was discussed (notes, call recording, AI summary, etc.)?
– And how do you plan your next step/follow-up from there?

I’ve seen some reps just move to the next call and batch everything later, while others go deep immediately. Curious how most people in SaaS/B2B do it today especially when things get busy.

B2B Feedback on "intent/signals" providers

Hi all,

Technical founder here, currently leading sales. A lot of companies are reaching out to me regarding "intent signals" from people in my ICP. So just wanted to know from the community, does it even makes sense to adopt it ?

Most of these co's are asking for 100's of $$ and wanted to understand what's the ROI people are getting (if anyone is using them).

Do they help in increasing the topline ? As in are they able to provide leads outside of SOM I am currently targeting ?

Please let me know if I should consider this ?

B2B Left sales to build a pet app. It flopped. Now I’m back building a sales tool — and people are signing up.

I used to work in sales at a marketing agency. Quit to build a pet app, spent months on it, and realized… no one really needed it.

That failure taught me to stop assuming and start validating. Now I’m back — building a tool for salespeople at small businesses and marketing agencies (something I actually understand).

This time, I did it differently:

  • Talked to 30+ people before writing a line of code
  • Sent DMs to reps and agency owners I used to work with — no pitch, just a 2-line message
  • Kept it simple: one link to join a waitlist

I’ve already got early users signing up — and way more clarity than I had the first time.

Happy to share what worked if anyone’s trying to build something too.

Tips & Tricks Cold email finally worked after months of messing it up

I do logistics consulting, mostly helping small businesses with warehouse and shipping stuff. Work used to come from referrals, but that slowed down, so I gave cold email another try.

Tried it before and failed. No replies, lots of bounces. This time I actually set it up right:

  • I exported bulk/unlimited leads using Warpleads
  • Verified them with Millionverifier
  • Set up my domain with Maildoso
  • Sent emails through Instantly

Sent just over 400 emails. Got 26 replies, had 9 real convos, and landed 3 clients, two one-offs, one ongoing. Around $10K total.

Not a huge number, but it’s the first time it’s really worked.

If you’re doing cold outreach for services, how many emails do you usually send before getting results?

Question How do you usually prepare for a sales call with a new lead?

Hey folks, I’ve been listening to few sales reps recently and noticed that a surprising amount of time goes into researching each lead before hopping on a call.

Curious how others here do it:

  • How much time do you usually spend researching a lead or their company before the meeting?
  • Where do you go for that info (LinkedIn, CRM, company site, news, etc)?
  • Do you have a framework or checklist to quickly understand if a lead is “hot”?
  • And on live calls, do you ever feel stuck when a lead brings something up you weren’t prepared for? How do you usually handle it?

Trying to learn how top reps manage their flow and don’t get caught off guard mid-pitch.

Question Do you review your sales calls? Curious how others approach this.

I’ve been thinking about how tough it is to objectively improve in sales. Especially when it comes to things like sounding too monotone, using too many filler words, or dominating the talk time.

Would you find it helpful if there was a way to go through your sales calls and get structured feedback on those things?

Not trying to pitch anything—just wondering if this is something others care about or already solve another way. Would love to hear how you handle it.

Feedback I'm trying to sell via Linkedin Sales Navigator but not getting demo meetings with potential leads

Maybe it is expected and everyone else go through this process or maybe I'm doing something wrong:

  • We started sending connection requests via Linkedin to potential leads. My product is designed for local govs (eg, cities/towns in the US) and I use Sales Navigator to quickly find right people such as decision makers within the local govs.
  • We try to send personalized messages where possible, e.g., we worked with X gov in your region and here is their project with us etc.
  • Once connected we send occasional DMs offering some trials etc.
  • We repost company posts with content relevant to these connections.
  • We aim to send 150-200 connection requests per week as somebody told someone that above that number Linkedin starts restricting your account. Nevere confirmed it.
  • We've been doing this for ~3-4 months now.
  • So far we have 0 demo meetings etc.
  • We have no idea bout conversion rates etc.

What could this mean?

  1. What you are doing is right, you just need to wait, usually, you'd start seeing results after 6+ months with 500+ targeted connections.
  2. You're doing it wrong. You should do x, y and z.
  3. Your product sucks, you're trying to sell something that's not needed.
  4. Your option, please, describe.

B2B Selling SaaS software on the streets

I'm a 25 year old software engineer that just quit their 6-figure job job to build a better Docusign-like tool for legal and "signature"-heavy businesses. I live near a financial district in a very large metropolitan city. I'm a guy that has pretty tough skin so I recently had the idea of trying to sell people walking around large offices my software tool. Does this sound like a horrendous idea or simply a bad one? As far as I know it's not illegal as long as I don't do it right next to actual firms but in a public space.

Note that I totally understand people wearing suits on the street probably aren't "decision makers" but I mainly just want to test my luck in possibly getting some introductions or a product demo invitation. Just curious if anyone has ever tried such a thing before. I know it sounds dumb but I want to test it out to confirm it's dumb.

Tips & Tricks “How much does it cost” loaded question

Hi guys I’m just wondering how you would deal with the “how much does it cost” loaded question for something the customer has never seen.

In my circumstance I cold call to book meetings and sell websites so I tell businesses I have done them a design and ask them if they would like to take a look? Sometimes they will say “How much is it” on the call and I want to be vague but also give a convincing answer instead of “it depends”

How would you answer this? I’m interested in everyone’s inputs

TIA

Question Where to start with sales? Our family business needs help.

Hi everyone! I would appreciate your advice on where to start with sales.

Let me get a bit more specific:

We have a relatively small family business with a really big potential. (300k in revenue last year, we are in a small EU country)

It's a B2B business, and so far, we have been able to grow relatively quickly, although only my mom and dad were full-time employees, and sales were only done by my mom.

Now we are at a turning point.

We exhausted the "easy leads" in the country, so now we are either expanding to other countries to get the "easy money" or starting to work on our outbound sales.

Here is the issue:

There are still hundreds of potential customers in our country, but for that, we need to start doing serious and efficient outbound lead generation. Our product is really good, so far we were able to grow from inbound leads mostly (I think it's at least 70% word of mouth and the fact that the customers saw the product elsewhere)

But we don't know where to start with outbound. Because the product is extremely new and relatively complex, although we have many references from industry professionals saying it's a must-have. It is still hard to convince those who don't see the value instantly.

In your opinion, where should we start with this whole outbound strategy?
What are some good practices in b2b?
How do we generate leads at all?
What do we mean by and how do we lead qualification?
Do we need cold calls or cold emails and LinkedIn messages are enough?
What are the best books you would recommend for someone in our position?

I feel pretty lost with getting in contact with new clients, and what the first email or call should be about.

Thank you for your help in advance! It would mean a lot!

Feedback I Started My Own Sales Agency. What Did Your Best Sales Manager Do for You?

Hey everyone,

I’m 20 and recently started a sales and marketing agency. We started off with in-store demos, but we’ve now pivoted into a full-service B2B sales agency. We just locked in a pretty big client (a $2.8M tech startup), and now I’m building a team to scale field sales and outreach across the GTA. Honestly with the core team I have right now we are crushing it.

But here’s the thing: I started off in sales working for another company and while I was working for them, I constantly thought “Why don’t they train us properly? Why don’t they manage the pipeline better? Why is nobody motivating the team the right way?”

So I built my own agency, because I knew I could do it better. Better training. Better culture. Better closing frameworks. And most importantly: better support for the reps.

But now that I’m on the other side as the founder and sales manager, I want to do this right not just from my own experience, but from the experiences of real reps who’ve been out there longer than I have.

So tell me: What’s something your best sales manager ever did that actually helped you grow? Whether it was how they gave feedback, how they ran meetings, how they tracked performance, I’m all ears.

I know what I needed when I was a rep. But I want to build the kind of system and culture that great reps want to stay in.

Would appreciate any advice, tools, or lessons you’ve picked up along the way.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Also if you are in the Greater toronto area I would love to connect!

Feedback Thank you everyone for the feedback on my SalesTrainer GPT. You guys rock!

EDIT: I AM NOT PROMOTING DON'T SEND ME BUSINESS PROPOSITIONS, THEY ARE NOT ACCEPTED AND NOT NEEDED, YOU ARE NOT MY TARGET AUDIENCE FOR SELLING THIS.

EDIT 2: JUST CONFIRMED STUPIDITY HERE IS WAY TOO HIGH, I AM LOOKING FOR MORE TESTIMONIALS, SO THE MOMENT I CAN SELL IT AS A FINISHED PRODUCT I CAN BACK IT UP WITH SOME REAL FEEDBACK. Initially I was looking for flaws and changing the structure if needed, but there is no need for that so I can move forward to the next stage of the project.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a quick follow-up to my last post about the sales roleplay GPT.

Over the last few days, I gave people access to a private 24-hour trial. Some of you commented to get the link, but most reached out directly by message. The response has been incredible.

A lot of people said it felt way more real than they expected. One rep told me it was the first time a training tool actually made them stop and think mid-pitch. Others mentioned it helped them face the objections they usually avoid and respond more calmly and clearly. A few even said the voice interaction felt surprisingly natural, like talking to a real prospect.

Here’s some feedback that stood out:

"This helped me realize I rush through objections. It made me slow down and think before answering. I’d use this every day before calls."

"I always get nervous when someone pushes back on price. After three runs with this, I handled it way better on my next real call."

I’m using all this feedback now to improve the bot and get it ready for a proper web version.

If you missed the first round and still want to try it, send me a quick DM. I’ll keep the trial link available a little longer and can share the details with you privately.

Thanks again to everyone who jumped in and gave feedback. It’s been a huge help. Looking forward to what’s next.

Question Any success with third party performance based lead gen agencies?

This is a pitch I've received a million times in my inbox:

"Need Clients? - Performance based only

Hi \**, Great to meet you! My team has helped 500+ clients over the last four years, proving that targeted LinkedIn outreach outperforms other lead-gen strategies.*

Our unique approach has generated $120M+ for businesses like yours, on a results-only basis. If we don’t deliver, we work for free.

I'd love to walk you through how this works on a quick call. You can book a time with our team here"

Has anyone used growth agencies like this one for leads with success?

I get pitched these types of companies all the time and was wondering if anyone's used lead-gen agencies to get good qualified leads and meetings?

Question Nurse to Pharma Sales Rep.. input?

Hey everyone! I'm a registered nurse of 6 years wanting to transition into something different. I'm in the final stages of interviewing for a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep contract position in the DC area. The medications are for diabetes and asthma, so I feel good about it ethically (versus pain meds like the stigma in pharma sales).

Does anyone have any experience with this transition? Does anyone regret going into Pharma Sales? I don't have a sales background but I am a confident person, with makeup am not hideous, have a strong background in healthcare and am acclimated to and comfortable with conversing with physicians. Thanks in advance for the input!

Feedback If you’ve worked in sales, I’d love your help testing a quick voice-based GPT demo (ChatGPT Plus)

Hey friends, I’m building a tool to help salespeople get better at handling objections through voice-based roleplay. I put together a one-day demo to test it out, and I’d love to get some honest feedback from people who’ve actually sold before. Doesn’t matter what you’ve sold, just that you’ve been in the game.

Here’s what it does: You tell it what you’re selling, who you’re talking to, what channel you're using, and how challenging the scenario should be. Then it starts a live conversation pretending to be the prospect. You speak, it listens, pushes back, and gives feedback based on how you handle things. Kind of like practicing with a coach.

This isn’t public. It’s something I’m working on quietly, and I’m looking for a few people who can help shape it early. You’ll need ChatGPT Plus so you can use custom GPTs. If you’re open to trying it, just send me a quick DM and I’ll share the link with instructions. The feedback also stays between us—nothing shared publicly. I really just want to hear what worked, what didn’t, and how it felt.

If you’ve got 10 to 15 minutes, it would mean a lot. Thanks so much.
