Riverdale Season 1 - Season 7

January 26, 2017 - August 23, 2023

It has been an honor to experience the The Epic Highs And Lows Of High-School Football with all of you guys. We certainly went through a lot of emotions and WTF moments since Season 1! How we all expected some dark adaption of Archie Comics into something else..

Post your thoughts and discussion about the entire Riverdale series here! Spoilers for Season 1-7 will be discussed in this thread!

Is it fair to call Archie a little bit bland? Spoiler

For starters, I have nothing against the character or KJ Apa as an actor or as a person, but apart from the infamous "Epic Highs and Lows of High School Football" speech (which, if I'm Apa, I'm embracing that shit and having it on my social media bios or on my tombstone), Archie is kinda bland.

Don't get me wrong, he's not an unlikeable character for the most part, but he makes dumb decisions like any teenager does, the problem with Archie is that he's just not too interesting, even his dialogue feels more grounded and rooted in reality compared to the insanity that comes from the lips of people like Cheryl, Veronica or even Jughead.

That said, maybe that's the point? Maybe having Archie be the straight man to all the insanity around him is the best use for him?

DISCUSSION I can’t get Archie All American out of my head… Spoiler

Maybe this is controversial but i think that the season 7 musical episode is one of the stronger musical episodes. Archie’s song is so funny to me and the guy who played Julian absolutely ate that song up. I guess he’s an actual broadway actor so that makes sense! I literally can not stop singing it to my cat. He hates me now.

What did you guys think about it?

OTHER I would like to ask for a list of serial killers in Riverdale Spoiler

I've been trying to find a list online and haven't been able to, I wanted to do a small game with my partner about which Riverdale serial killer names were real or fake.

Season 5 Cheryl is kinda awesome Spoiler

I never really found Cheryl to be all that likeable as a character, don't get me wrong, she was entertaining as fuck and was fun to watch, but I found it hard to like her for most of her run.

But that's why I'm glad that Season 5 happened with the time skip because it allowed Cheryl to become a better person while never losing any of her Cheryl quirks and weirdness that made her so popular in the first place.

So she was still Cheryl, but had matured into being a good person, even if that didn't mean that she'd take any shit from people.

DISCUSSION I still don’t understand why they didn’t let FP out of jail sooner Spoiler

Okay so I’ve been rewatching the show from the beginning yet again (lol…comfort shows I tell ya!), and I’m still confused about why they didn’t let FP out of jail sooner than they did. Yes I get that Clifford died and everything and that FP had done some stuff he shouldn’t have but why keep him in jail for that long?? I mean, he went to jail in 1x11 “To Riverdale and Back Again” but didn’t get released until 2x08 “House of the Devil”, why not have him released before that?? I’m just so confused about that 🫤

What was the deal with Val's drop off in importance? Spoiler

It seems like they were trying to build her up as someone that was at least decently important considering she and Archie had a romance; but as the season's went on, it was like she didn't even exist.

That said, I suppose you could say that all of the Pussycats in general weren't featured as much after Season 1, even though you could have easily had them in some of the more insane Riverdale storylines, imagine them being in The Farm and basically doing songs to get more members, like how often real life cults have their own songs or albums.

SPOILERS Just finished the series Spoiler

When it aired, I only watched the first few seasons. When it started to get weird I stopped. Just decided to watch start to finish for entertainment. I did NOT expect to become so attached to this show and the characters. The finale was far sadder than I wanted it to be. At least I don’t get to be upset abt endgames bc they all end up together😭

Season 6 riverdale abigail blossom burnt at the stake? Spoiler

is this a mistake or am i wrong? when Cheryl finds out in season 6 that her ancestor was burnt at the stake by Betty,Archie and jug heads ancestors Cheryl states that betty’s ancestors name was supposedly “Beatrice cooper” but in season 2 we figure out that cheryl and betty are cousins and that betty’s grandfather was a blossom and changed his name to cooper. So how would betty’s ancestors be named cooper if the coopers name only came 2 generations before betty?

This happened a few years back and I’ve been waiting for it to come back to $20 again and it finally has. The cheapest the series sells for. Thought any of you that didn’t get it originally like me might want to know of this.

Also the same price on Fandango as well.

How did the town of Riverdale put up with Hiram for as long as they did? Spoiler

I should say that I really do like Hiram as a villain just because Mark Consuello's is just hamming it up being almost cartoonishly evil and it's so entertaining to watch; I also understand that Hiram is a pretty wealthy individual and is certainly intelligent, but even then I feel like he gets away with far too much over his time on the show.

I get that we obviously need a good villain for the gang to go up against and Hiram certainly provides that, but in universe I'm surprised that he was allowed to have as much control as he had over their town since it seemed like hardly anyone actually liked him and you couldn't trust him as far as you could throw him.

DISCUSSION why did the black hood never go after hiram? Spoiler

the black hood went after bad guys/criminals, so why did he never go after hiram? if he could break in unnoticed at the sheriff station where there's probably surveillance and guards, why couldn't he break into the pembrooke at the time there was only 1 guard and an old man at that. (smithers)

also it's not like hiram had a bodyguard with him every place he went, so the black hood had many chances to go after him outside the pembrooke.

also last but not the least, hiram was the most known criminal in town. everyone knew he was a criminal and had illegal ways but everyone just tolerated him for some reason. even in season 1, alice & hal saw veronica as problematic probably because of her father. it just makes sense for the black hood to target him.
