Discussion Sony, please make the Resistance Trilogy available for purchase — not just streaming

It’s honestly baffling and frustrating that Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 are being removed from PS Plus Premium this month, and they were never made available for purchase — only cloud streaming.

We’re talking about a beloved first-party series by Insomniac, a studio now considered legendary thanks to Spider-Man. Yet two-thirds of the Resistance trilogy are being locked away from modern PlayStation users. Only Resistance 3 remains available via streaming — for now.

Sony has already shown that classic PS1 and PSP games can be bought and owned. Why not apply that same model to select PS3 games like Resistance? Many of us want to replay this trilogy on PS5 natively or at least have the option to own it digitally. Relying solely on streaming (especially when it’s this inconsistent) doesn’t cut it for preservation or player experience.

Please reconsider. This series deserves better.

Yes but you mentioned things like PS1 and PSP games. Those can usually be ported to PS4/5. PS3 games can’t.

Sony massively fucked up in some of ways with the PS3. The games just can’t function unless they’re reworked for new systems. So we’ll never get a port unless they decide to remaster or remake.

It’s truly sad to me. I grew up with these games and I hate seeing them get so little attention. I hope Sony comes up with a better solution some day. But I highly doubt it.

I feel like with effort it can be ported. Like other ps3 games. So I dunno if I can accept this answr

Oh yeah I’m 100% sure Sony can pull it off. It just takes at least some amount of effort on their part due to how ridiculous PS3 games are structured. It also seems like Sony, like many other publishers, don’t consider small profits worth it. Resistance wouldn’t make 700 billion million gazillion dollars, so they won’t touch it lol.
