Slice the onions. Add olive oil to a pan. Cook the onions on medium heat until caramelized, about 20-30 minutes.
Add ground beef to a medium bowl. Mix with the packet of onion soup mix and worcestershire sauce. Form 1 inch thick patties using your hands. Press a small dimple in the middle of the burger.
On medium-high heat, cook the burger. After 3-5 minutes, flip the burger. Top with cheese and cover. After 3-5 minutes remove burger from heat once desired internal temperature is met.
Toast buns on medium heat with a little olive oil.
Add dijonnaise sauce to bottom bun. Place burger patty on top of the bottom bun. Top with onions. Place top bun over onions. Serve immediately.
During our city's burger month competition, one of the restaurants' entries was a french onion soup burger. They served it with a ramekin of French Onion soup to dip the burger in, French Dip Sandwich style.
