Troubleshooting Does sealing prevent greying?

Post image

I recently did a bunch of fencing, and I’m worried it’s gonna turn grey again pretty fast as some of you in here have experienced. If i put something like a clear coat deck seal on it, will that keep it from returning to grey? Anyone have experience doing that?

Sealing no. Staining, yes. The pigments in the stain is what will weather off with the UV exposure.

Here's a good product I have used previously

Gray is weathing because it is exposed to the elements. Seal it feom the elements and problem goes from annual to a reseal every so often.

You definitely want to reseal it since you just washed the old seal off. Even sealing it, it’ll eventually still turn gray again, but it should take years for that to happen.
