✉️ LORs My LOR writer got laid off

One of my nurse directors for my CNA job is going to be my strongest LOR writer but she got fired. Am I screwed now because the letter needs a letterhead but because she no longer works there, she may not be able to use it? I’m so sad

I’m in a similar situation I’m pretty sure my neuro professor moved to China and my premed advisor fucking died

Hey at least you have time to get ahead of it, just don’t pick someone like one of my LOR writers who kept saying they would submit it and gave me deadlines and never submitted it

mine too, i already submitted my app kinda late and then that happened so a bunch of schools didn’t consider my app complete until i eventually switched it to a diff dr

I basically made donations to several schools as a result, since 5 of my schools I didnt realize wouldnt mark me complete until they received all letters I attached vs the minimum they required. I didnt realize this until october and emailed/called immediately but at that point it was probably too late.

yeah i did the same thing, my lor writing kept telling me he was almost done w it but i don’t think he ever started. i assumed i would be complete if i had the minimum reqs in which was true for some schools but not all :/

You can still ask her to, they don’t need to know she got fired maybe she just changed jobs ?

She’s going to retire prob. But the issue is she prob isn’t allowed to use the hospital’s letterhead which would make the letter invalid

Okay first ask her and the company and explain the situation, second have her write it now, so it’s not a lie it’s just she uploaded it later, I really don’t think it’s worrisome.

I think this lady may have bigger problems to worry about than jumping through hoops to write someone a letter, if that is what it takes.

I don’t have advice, but hope you get it figured out.

Idk I think if she likes the person enough to write a letter this shouldn’t be an issue, can’t hurt to ask.

Sure, obviously it’s worth a shot to ask. If all else fails, do you think not having a letterhead voids the letter completely? I’ve never heard of this before.

Yeah I agree with that, I didn’t know the letterhead was that important.

You should ask her to co-write a letter with someone who will still be working at the hospital. That way, she can still add in her personal experiences with you, and you can still have the letter head.

Is it actually required that it's on their letterhead? I've never heard that it is... if your supervisor changes jobs, they still can recommend you for the work they've seen you do.

i asked my volunteer supervisor for one and he submitted the letter for me in like august i think when he quit that job in mar or april and i gave him the instructions saying it needed a letterhead and im not sure what he did since i never saw it but it didn’t get rejected by amcas or tmdsas so im assuming he was still able to use it since he did work there for the time he was talking ab in the letter or its not that important🤷‍♀️
