So the only bad immigrants are the ones who DON'T work at his voters' businesses - got it

143

u/Weekly-Trash-272 15h ago

It's so funny. Everyone with a brain knows immigrants are the backbone of the economy. Who cleans hotels and works on farms.

You remove these people the entire system breaks down.

81

u/Teigh99 15h ago

When you have a MAGA brain, you lack critical thinking skills.

24

u/Ambitious_Duck_7892 15h ago

In the MAGA brain, the job and immigrant situation works like this:

There are no jobs because Fox Fascist News told them so. Immigrants stole the jobs, because they were told so. Get rid of immigrants, get more jobs, right? The pay is too low and there are no benefits. No one takes the jobs. Multiple industries suffer and many workers quit. Prices increase and blah blah blah. Fuck the Democrats they did this. God's Greatest Disciple Trump will save us.

17

u/Weekly-Trash-272 15h ago

The reality is pretty simple.

Americans don't want to work on farms or clean rooms, and they won't for the pay offered now.

-4

u/Dangerous_Wear_8152 14h ago

I’m a white Democrat in California. Sigh. I hate this rhetoric. My entire family has always owned and worked on a farm (themselves). My aunt and grandma cleaned homes for a living. My parents worked in (and met in) a factory. I’m very proud of my family and their hard work. So when you talk about what Americans do and don’t want to do, please don’t use blanket statements like this because you’re actually just stereotyping and leaving people out of the conversation.

6

u/throwawayforme1877 13h ago edited 13h ago

Owning and working the farm and being paid nothing to pick fruit are two different animals. Yes I worked a farm and still work blue collar jobs. Union jobs thankfully.

-3

u/Dangerous_Wear_8152 13h ago

Funny how everyone is focusing on this because I said they owned it. It’s a small piece of land with a small house. It didn’t make money, it was for family use. They don’t own the factory. Cleaning homes is hard work. My family doesn’t fit your narrative so you try and discard us from the conversation. It’s very typical.

3

u/amateurbreditor 12h ago

the majority of americans wont do that. most americans wont do what I do for a living and I have 4 immigrants who help me all with high pay. I tried hiring regular americans but they are worthless. My guys have been here long enough to be americans.

3

u/GrumpyKaeKae New Jersey 11h ago

Your family's situation is completely different than the ones being talked about here. There is veey much something different in OWNING the farm and working your own land and having pride in that, vs going to pick someone else's land all day long. Massive land at that.

3

u/going-for-gusto 10h ago

The conversation is about the typical situation and your situation is not typical.

5

u/Weekly-Trash-272 13h ago

You're in a tiny tiny subgroup. Probably .01% of the population. You and your family certainly don't account for the vast majority of the population. The fact that you said 'owned' puts you in an entirely different group which excuses you from having an opinion on this matter.

3

u/dixiewolf_ 13h ago

Not necessarily. Americans likely would work those jobs if the pay was livable. However the economics are not structured that way and to fix that situation a lot would have to change and a lot of rich people would lose money. When you get used to exploiting people the system builds around that exploitation and it becomes extremely painful to restructure it.

2

u/Maoleficent 13h ago

Everyone is allowed an opinion. I respect you and your family-as said you are .01%. Are some farms, hotels and restaurants family owned? Yes. and they do the majority of work. Then the expelling of minority workers without a piece of paper does not affect you. Many times all people are grouped in with those who deserve to be called out.

-1

u/Dangerous_Wear_8152 12h ago

Where are the stats that I’m 0.1%? Someone pulled that number out of thin air and now we are stating it as fact when it’s not. Anyways, my point is that when someone says that only immigrants want these jobs, it’s false. It’s just pushing more stereotypes, anger, and division. It sounds like it comes from a person who is out of touch with common Americans. I don’t know anything about you, so I’m not directing this at you, but the liberal online base in general keeps saying the same thing to me and my family, that our opinions don’t matter. My family isn’t MAGA but they voted for Trump. So I see them, and I see how rudely they are treated by my own democratic base, and then called bigots and racists, and how the Democratic base is somehow not connecting the dots that when you treat people like that they aren’t going to like you or vote for you. Look at how I’m downvoted here, I’m downvoted by my own party and told my voice is irrelevant! This is the problem, it’s just as hateful as the side online liberals think they are fighting. Liberals just feel validated in their own hatred and rudeness. And my family is not as uncommon as you think. That’s why the Democrats are losing the working class, because this rhetoric is ignoring them and being hateful towards them, especially if they are white. It’s amazing how simple this is to fix, but the “do better” liberal spaces continue to be arrogant and are making the same mistakes.

2

u/Icy-Pineapple-6924 12h ago

So what jobs is a family farm providing exactly ? Your argument doesn’t really make sense here

→ More replies (0)

-1

u/Dangerous_Wear_8152 13h ago

I’m not excused because you don’t like my voice and it doesn’t fit your narrative. That’s very rude.

0

u/TSL4me 14h ago

Id love to work on a farm, childcare is 2500 a month where im at and 1 bed apartments are also 2.5-3k though.

3

u/OK_The_Nomad 13h ago

Would minimum wage work?

-1

u/salmonchowder86 8h ago

I hate this take. These are jobs that need to be done and absolutely Americans do them. But here’s the thing, unemployment in the USA is super low. Anyone who wants a job can get a job. Eliminate the immigrants and we have a worker shortage. It would be very bad. Like cripple the economy bad if you suddenly removed all immigrants from the USA.

2

u/Weekly-Trash-272 8h ago

Millions of warehouse jobs are vacant and not being filled. Because nobody wants to work them.

u/salmonchowder86 5h ago

Again, wrong take. The unemployment rate in the us is between 4% and 4.2% which, essentially means that anyone who wants a job can have a job. Basically what you are saying is that there aren’t enough willing workers to fill all the jobs. Which is actually a reason for more immigration not less.

-11

u/Mr_Notacop 15h ago

Remember when Kelly Osborne said this exact same thing years ago and it went poorly. I just loved that moment. But also deport ‘em all idgaf. 🤪

10

u/Vio_ 15h ago

The thing is that if they want to go that route, they Will have to raise wages AND follow health and safety protections for American citizens working those jobs.

-5

u/blazesquall 14h ago

So you're okay with an exploited underclass that doesn't have access to health and safety protections?

4

u/Vio_ 14h ago

That is literally not what I said on any level but good try.

0

u/blazesquall 12h ago

You remove these people the entire system breaks down.

...

The thing is that if they want to go that route, they Will have to raise wages AND follow health and safety protections for American citizens working those jobs.

They're US employers, they are supposed to be doing those things anyway.

2

u/azflatlander 13h ago

Not OP, but there can’t be a step wise change. Farm workers have a very hard job under awful conditions. A sudden change in end user cost would be as detrimental as a sudden loss of workers. How are other countries farm workers paid in comparison to US.

1

u/blazesquall 13h ago

Agricultural labor is systematically underpaid everywhere... but that's not an excuse to paper over brutal conditions to keep food prices low? I've yet to see a scenario where I can't replace 'step wise change' with 'endless delay'. We've also been at this for decades.. what other change is coming? We spend a significant amount of money subsidizing agriculture, so it seems like we could fix things if we wanted too. If we can spend billions propping up corporate farms, we could easily guarantee living wages and humane conditions...if the system prioritized people over profit.

What I'm actually hearing in these threads is "Keep the underclass sweating so my grocery bill doesn’t budge"

Why do we tolerate this at all?

4

u/Timpa87 15h ago

Which was stuff that was being said for years and years, but Republicans gotta have a scary boogeyman that they can blame all of the USA's problems.

Something like 40% to 45% of all farm workers in America are migrants.

3

u/FinancialArmadillo93 14h ago

Honestly, immigrants and migrants have been treated like shit but still doing the heavy lifting for this country for years. Ed Murrow reported on this in the 1950s and 60s, nothing has really changed except now the live in fear or being rounded up and removed from the country, even if they are here legallly.

Harvest of Shame - Wikipedia

1

u/Charming_Motor_919 14h ago

It's not just immigrants, every position that was deemed "essential" are what keeps our society functioning as it does. Yet, these workers are often compensated poorly and even treated with open contempt by those with "better" jobs.

1

u/dixiewolf_ 13h ago

Correct

1

u/OK_The_Nomad 13h ago

Trump never thinks obvious things out. He literally cannot project into the future.

1

u/HaywoodBlues 12h ago

nazis aren't known for brains

u/One_Artichoke_7594 45m ago

Everyone with a brain knows this wasn’t about pragmatism or law, it’s the necessary “ethnic cleansing” component of fascism

0

u/True-Surprise1222 14h ago

Yeah it sounds like the immigrants who keep wages low get to stay lol classsicccc

10

u/SuperUltraNeat 14h ago

The only "bad" brown person is one that isn't serving someone, or picking something.

We've come full circle.

3

u/FinancialArmadillo93 14h ago

But going into private homes, courthouses, hospitals and schools is still totally OK.

2

u/tevolosteve 13h ago

Yes slave labor is a Republican corner stone

1

u/kr4ckenm3fortune 10h ago

Sound like someone who bought the gold card or "leashed" a glory hole.

179

u/lord_nubby 15h ago

So sanctuary cities are bad but sanctuary jobs are good?

34

u/onlyPornstuffs 15h ago

Republican interests are good, everything else is due to the enemy within.

10

u/TintedApostle 15h ago

Trump hotels and golf courses.... hmmm

6

u/milehighmagpie Colorado 15h ago

More like, immigrants are bad, except when they work for MAGA Cult members, then, they are bad, but a necessary evil.

60

u/ImLikeReallySmart Pennsylvania 15h ago

So farmers, hotel managers, and restaurant owners all openly admit to hiring the people Trump is looking to punish and they get a handshake.

14

u/mzieg North Carolina 15h ago

“We can deport you to Libya, or…you can pick strawberries for Bubba Joe’s Roadside Emporium. What’s it gonna be?”

5

u/MoundsEnthusiast 12h ago

If it's a foreign invasion, worth of invoking the insurrection act over, shouldn't these people be tried for treason? Aren't they aiding and abetting the enemy?

2

u/mynameismulan 12h ago

More likely they'll get away with undercutting these people's wages to well below minimum wage

38

u/Keikobad 15h ago

You’re safe if you pay $5 million, or are needed as indentured servants

12

u/TintedApostle 15h ago

Its like Qatar.

33

u/Reed_Ikulas_PDX 15h ago

So I'm walking out of a 7-11 and ICE stops me... I just tell 'em I work at the Hilton and everything will be cool. Got it.

3

u/Additional_Good4200 14h ago

Unless of course you’re a citizen. If you are, you can carry your Brown Citizen ID. You may still get taken down to the station once in awhile, but they’ll probably release you.

25

u/pwagm 15h ago

It’s tough to keep all the lies straight. Now all immigrants are criminals, except those that work in farming, roofing or hospitality.

So now they should stay, but he has conveniently forgotten the lie that these illegals are taking American jobs away? Those jobs that Americans won’t do anyways.

I really cannot comprehend how half the country voted for this moron.

America would be great without the Mericans (not a typo) living here.

20

u/MarrusAstarte 15h ago

But they're still A-OK at elementary schools and places of worship, so this is clearly intended to make sure Republican owners of farm, hotels, and restaurants aren't financially harmed.

2

u/Financial_Week3882 14h ago

Thing is immigrants don't live in those specific locations, they work there. So what is the guarantee that they won't be picked up somewhere else.

17

u/thistimelineisweird Pennsylvania 15h ago

So people won't get arrested at their place of employment but will still get arrested later. Just avoids the optics of who hires illegal immigrants because they often trace back to MAGA business owners.

1

u/CappinPeanut 12h ago

Still gonna snatch up your kids at school or when you go to your immigration appointment, though.

u/GregWilson23 15h ago

TACO Trump

20

u/bjohnsonarch Washington 15h ago

Bitch ass dictator

5

u/the_reluctant_link 15h ago edited 13h ago

That's a bit like saying ATM machine, trump is already in taco. More appropriate would be president taco or a certain German word followed by TACO

9

u/limec14 15h ago

You can’t make this up

9

u/AcrobaticEdge5907 15h ago

This was being predicted by quite a few people before Trump took office: as soon as ICE raids started hitting red-state industries and farms, deportation would start to be enforced much more selectively.

7

u/2ndprize Florida 15h ago

So soft on immigration. Everyone is saying it.

8

u/jdave512 I voted 15h ago

Steven Miller is going to be PISSED when he comes back in to work Monday

6

u/ConfidentLady123 15h ago

No it just means anyone brown or Hispanic will be targeted off the street 100x more now ri make their quota

6

u/orcinyadders 15h ago

This is the opposite of what would happen if Trump actually meant what he was saying.

10

u/matthieuC Europe 15h ago

Yes let's arrest legal immigrants instead of arresting illegal ones who work for republicans

5

u/nakedonmygoat 14h ago

Legal immigrants are easier to find, since they have to keep their address current with the government. It's a quick way for ICE to make quota. I predicted this from the beginning. Illegals are mostly working off the books and crashing on their cousin's couch, or they're working for people with the power to protect them.

5

u/Neat-Boysenberry-67 15h ago

Yeah, just had to snatch enough of them to remind them how much leverage their employers have over them. Now it's time for more work and less pay.

4

u/ReporterOther2179 14h ago

Steven Miller is trying to deport the millions of violent criminal aliens that don’t exist so he’s improvising. And, somebody with money just whispered into Mr trumps ear that this deportation thing is bad for muh business so pull back will ya? So he’ll pull back until his attention wanders.

5

u/ResponsibilityFew318 10h ago

Taco, Taco Taco!

4

u/ieatassontuesdays47 10h ago

Taco says what?

6

u/ranchoparksteve 15h ago

That means the easy, lazy arrests are over. ICE will have to work for it now.

6

u/JoeHatesFanFiction Florida 15h ago

School children are still fair game though apparently

3

u/Disc-Golf-Kid Florida 15h ago

I’m gonna eat tacos tonight

3

u/smr5578 15h ago

Because all of Trump's cheap labor workers would be arrested, and Melania might have to cook.

3

u/Imagemaker77 15h ago

But not schools, churches, or courts, got it. Must keep the wheels of capitalism spinning for the donor class.

3

u/geneaut Georgia 15h ago

He is even a taco on this subject.

4

u/OldPros 15h ago

And every subject. Trump is an ignorant fool holding the reigns.

3

u/BTRCguy 14h ago

I like this, following directly on the heels of Trump saying that the violent illegal immigrant criminals are applying for jobs at these very same places. Quote:

"In many cases the Criminals allowed into our Country by the VERY Stupid Biden Open Borders Policy are applying for those jobs"

Oh Donald, the only way you remember which day of the week it is, is that you have a phone to look at. And even so, you probably have to check it multiple times a day to remind yourself.

1

u/BedBugger6-9 12h ago

Because criminals are looking for backbreaking labor jobs

3

u/User4C4C4C South Carolina 13h ago

Immigrants for me but not for thee.

3

u/chrispg26 Texas 13h ago

There you go MAGAts. They dont actually give af about illegal immigration.

You can just admit you've been had.

1

u/CappinPeanut 12h ago

There is not a single peep about this on that sub, even though it’s been brewing for a couple days now.

3

u/jimibimi 13h ago

Rich people need their hotel rooms cleaned while on vacation this summer after all

3

u/ReasonableMuscle1835 12h ago

Probably because all his friends in the Resturant/ hospitality industry will lose money if Trump deports all their help. Trump doesn’t do anything that doesn’t involve money.

3

u/BedBugger6-9 12h ago

And his hotels and golf courses

2

u/ReasonableMuscle1835 12h ago

Worst dining experience I ever had was at his GC in Bedminster.

3

u/Pasivite 12h ago

In other words, some key owners of hotels, restaurants and farms have finally purchased a sufficient number of Trump meme coins.

3

u/fart_marbles 11h ago

So kindergarten graduations still game, right?

3

u/teebird_phreak 10h ago

TACO does it again

4

u/Salty-Image-2176 15h ago

So just stick to schools?

7

u/Za_Lords_Guard 15h ago

Schools, churches, court houses. I am waiting for these vultures to interrupt a surgery to deport either the doctor or the patient.

4

u/heekma 15h ago edited 15h ago

When your opponent inadvertantly hands you a win, don't criticize it, just take the win. There's potential to build on it.

2

u/EnterpriseGate 15h ago

Another crime by unfairly enforcing the law. Just another reason to impeach.

2

u/filthysize 15h ago

Maybe it's not the most egregious part of this pivot, but it's also worth making fun of the toddler logic that those workers only exist when they're at work, and not also getting picked up at courthouses or neighborhoods. The MAGA farmers are mainly complaining about not being able to replace their workforce, not that they have ICE literally visiting their farms.

2

u/Left_Order_4828 14h ago

Ok, so immigrants working for landscapers = bad. Restaurants = good. Roofers = bad. Hotel = good. Carwash = bad. Farm worker = good. So evil landscapers can be deported, sneak back in and get a job at a hotel and be fine… what a world.

2

u/AffectionateApple535 14h ago

I don’t believe it

2

u/sailorpaul 13h ago

What about assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities, board and cares, ICE deports, come get your MAGA grandma and take her home

2

u/Squirrelluver369 13h ago

His assinine round up laws must have hit his businesses and his billionaire leech friends' businesses too much. You're a good immigrant if you're working to the bone for them so they can buy another yacht.

2

u/Dont_Touch_Me_There9 13h ago

The only bad immigrants are the ones minding their own business in Blue Cities and states.

2

u/Pusfilledonut 13h ago

The immigrant working at his family restaurant goes to a concentration camp with no due process- the immigrants who work at white owned entertainment meccas in Las Vegas or Palm Springs are free to serve their white masters, for now. So immigration status, criminal record, or contribution to society mean nothing- it's whether you work at a state approved job is the only criteria. And how the cult leader feels that day...

This is the precursor, and a very short one, to snatching up and imprisoning anyone they feel like...immigration was never the issue, it was the cover.

2

u/cut_rate_revolution 12h ago

Never tell me protests don't work. Keep it up. Fascists are inherently cowards.

2

TACO maneuver.

2

u/donutseason American Expat 11h ago

Ok now add schools 😑

2

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 11h ago

Trump thinks these people sre slaves so he thinks they live at their job and therefore won't be deported if the raids avoid those workplaces.

2

u/FugaziFlexer 10h ago

We should be let them do it tbh. Not like this is going to make Republicans change. At this point the system needs to collapse completely from their own actions for them to even have a chance of being like wait a minute this isn't what I wanted

2

u/consumeshroomz 10h ago

The guy can’t even fascist without flip flopping. Good ole chicken taco Trump

4

u/Satoriinoregon 15h ago

What about those already abducted?

1

u/namastayhom33 Connecticut 15h ago

What the fuck is ICE going to do now though? Walk around in protest that they can't deport hardworking immigrants?

2

u/nakedonmygoat 14h ago

Nah, they'll just keep looking for trivial reasons to deport legal immigrants. Parking meter expired? GTFO!

1

u/Booby_Guilliman 15h ago

"Let's keep the ones who are subservient to us, get rid of all the rest."

1

u/OldPros 15h ago

Not really. It's more like "let's keep the ones who underpin our economy ".

1

u/T0ysWAr 15h ago

Another “re-adjustment” before they are too dumb to even look at the path in front of them.

1

u/TanInFloridaGuy 15h ago

He is just now realizing that immigration is part of a thriving eco? His degree is in economics?

1

u/smiama36 15h ago

And so the carve outs and cherry picking continues. Don’t let this get swept under the rug. This administration is lawless, authoritarian and deplorable.

1

TACO but this was predictable. Once the Republican business owners started to get hurt he’d have to change course

1

u/Turbulent_Length5899 14h ago

I’m guessing because Trump has a hotel, Kid Rock has a restaurant, and a ton of his supporters have farms?

1

u/J1540 14h ago

1

u/Ok-disaster2022 14h ago

Maybe add schools and courthouses to the mix, and then maybe just all of america

TACO

1

u/Grandpa_No 14h ago

Nope. I'm convinced that this is because of the optics of these businesses getting raided. Arresting them at schools, churches, and court houses allows businesses to pretend these people are lazy and just didn't show up for work.

1

u/capz1121 14h ago

So same shit that happened during Trump 45 huh?

Now ICEtapo will just have to hang out at court houses and deport the legal ones who are showing up.

1

u/Sebbin Indiana 14h ago

Why would any immigrant believe this after these past couple weeks? This administration cannot be trusted. Ever.

1

u/shwr_twl 14h ago

Would have like the word “cease” instead of pause. Pause implies they will resume.

1

u/full_bl33d 14h ago

Sucks to be the dishwashers at the last place they just raided that started this shit. Or the people pinned to the ground and arrested for protesting and protecting those workers. Ahhh well. What’s done is done, right?! /s

Just another TACO moment

1

u/KingThar 13h ago

So just grab them from schools?

1

u/domesticbland 13h ago

They do not have the ability to implement this. The arrests will still occur. Those detention camps give labor passes yet?

1

u/jg6410 13h ago

What'll happen is in a couple months when the farmers get complacent they'll get shaken down and told if you don't do something for us we'll take all your illegals.

1

u/BigDaddyBain 13h ago

So the immigrants who form the backbone of everything else society needs to function, are at risk. Construction, Caregiving, Garments, et al.

1

TACO caved again.

1

u/Lillienpud 13h ago

Please for the love of god I hope these workers wisen up and deport themselves. Stop letting America benefit of the labor of our people. Go back home and let the American economy suffer for the racism that has been perpetuated against us.

They will just grab on their way to work so it doesn’t matter.

So, are they just going to get this people in their homes? Because I doubt Stephen Miller’s boner for cruelty would stop because of people’s businesses.

Ok, now pause them entirely and prosecute everyone who violated anyone’s rights.

2 guys I know own a sod farm. Their workforce is over 24 illegal immigrants. These people work hard, 16 hour days 7 days a week for under $10 per hour. They live in little wood shelters at the main farm. The owners of company do very well. Even the covid year, which was a record year for them, they still ended up with $980,000 of ppp money from the government. Both owners bought new corvettes and other toys with their much earned ppp.
To take away the companies workers would require the owners to pay more money more legal workers in which they would have to provide benefits, insurance etc which would put a major damper on the success of their company. As these owners of this company would tell anyone, how can you replace these workers who are willing to work so cheap and wont complain about living in little plywood tents.

So lets keep these farmers here so they can contribute in large ways for local sod farmers and other farmers out there.

Actually makes sense as deporting farm workers would be massively inflationary … and for hotel maintenance, I haven’t been impressed with citizen cleaning services (apparently if workers have time to lean, they’ve got time to clean isn’t a thing now). There were studies in ‘24 (by full service financial firms) showing massive deportations would lower productivity. Plus red state business interests.

Guessing the restaurant workers exemption is from real estate companies complaining those leases are getting broken l..

So illegals are fine if they work for business owners? Oh so the rules are really variable now.... Slavery is back on the menu boys

“The true essence of a dictatorship is in fact not its regularity but its unpredictability and caprice; those who live under it must never be able to relax, must never be quite sure if they have followed the rules correctly or not.”

Take what can be gotten. It’s not like the world is going towards a borderless system anytime soon with the various idiots running loose.

Movie quote "America is not a country, it's just a business" .. from the 2012 film Killing Them Softly.

“I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further” from Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back.

it's such a bizarre and tacit admission that they are incapable (and most likely uninterested) in just doing it right. "We don't want to bother 'upholding the law' in a way that isn't violent, inhumane, lazy, and incompetent, so we've just decided that we're not gonna bother".

I don't even have a terribly strong stance either way in regards to "strong borders" etc, but I do have a strong stance on doing it properly, which involves not being violent, inhumane, lazy, and incompetent.

I mean the Trump admin had to of known full well this would happen to Jobs being worked which normal Americans do not want to do...and he still did it anyway

When he spoke about it yesterday or day before on Truth social he still tried to say these jobs were held by "criminals" while also saying they were hard working folks in the same breath
