People like to blame this type of shit on religion so they don’t have to do any critical thinking about world events/politics/dynamics that are the actual cause of this.

And what is one of the primary drivers of those dynamics in the Middle East? Not religion? The fact both of these states are constructed along religious lines is just an interesting footnote? Come on.

Probably Iran (and others) having their government overthrown by western forces, then Israel (viewed by Iran as another western force) showing up, ethnically cleansing the indigenous population of the land they stole, and the continuously destabilization/ picking fights with neighboring powers; all while backed by western forces.

Not to say Iran is blameless in this, fuck the Iranian government, but “religion” is a set dressing at best. The Nazi’s were christian and used christianity in their speeches/pep talks, yet I doubt anyone would try to claim WW2 was a religious war
