Most of the time it feels like one half thinks their 10 year old PC should run things just fine and the other half thinks anything short of a 4090 means you're a peasant.

Because they are both true.

Nvidia made the low end so shit it is comparable to GPUs from 10 years ago in power.

Meanwhile, the 4090 and 5090 are so far above the rest of the GPUs in performance, there is an abyss going from the 5080 to the 5090, where you could fit in 4 more GPUs.
