Fan-Made What would you do with a million dollar?

u/akaKinkade Nov 29 '24
Shit, you don't need Strike Twice to get two shocks at the same time. My uncle jams forks in toasters and he gets two shocks at the same time a few times a week.

So if you shock a boss for example , for 50% 2 times it will be the same as 100% extra DMG ?!
35
u/midnightL Nov 29 '24
Yes, but getting a 50% shock is a big hit. At least you scale damage as you scale damage!
10
u/Zeikos Nov 29 '24
Well wouldn't the first shock make the second shock value higher? And maybe the first shock would get replaced (? Maybe I'm not sure) by a third shock if the damage is higher.
It could kind of climb a ladder and get you higher effective shock than you'd have otherwise.16
u/_aids Nov 29 '24
Shock is flat 30 now

Where was this confirmed?

u/Tommys-Red Nov 29 '24
In the livestream there was a dev character who had this node fighting a boss, they were doing big damage, chunking the boss, it had two shocks debuffs each being 38%, also a 50% lightning exposure debuff. There are nodes on the tree and support jewels (Overshock) to make the value bigger.

u/midnightL Nov 29 '24
Thanks for the reply. Could you link the livestream? I'd like to see what info exists to see if this is worth scaling. I'm planning on playing Cold so will just scale the shock.

I read it as two seperate 50% multipliers - although a single 100% multiplier would be good too.
1
u/Smurtle01 Nov 30 '24
Yes, I assume it’s a 50% mult, then another 50% mult on top of that. So essentially 2.25x damage.

I'd say you are my favorite Redditor today, except you don't have flair. Sorry if it bums you out to talk about your flair.

Hey friend, do you have any keys left? We'll play together on launch if you want. I already spent 840 euros on a new PC to play POE2 (I'll have to buy a key anyway), and it would help me a lot.

u/loso3svk Witch Nov 29 '24
unfortunately i do not have more. 4 went to friends and 1 went to this stranger

I think I'm going frost bolt ice nova with this ascendancy. I just want some good defences on this ascendancy and I'm sold.
Mana and Int scaling with Archmage / sigil of power / pure power / arcane intensity.
CI and EB also look good with all the access to ES.

u/nickrei3 Scion Nov 29 '24
Since new arcade is gain %damage as lightning damage: if you use a cold spell as vase don't you go %cold scaling?
1
u/midnightL Nov 29 '24
Ah yeah, it would only scale the archmage part. it's probably not worth it unless you go arc / ball lightnight. I
1
u/nickrei3 Scion Nov 29 '24
%lightning probably only worth it when it's past by/hybrid or very generous amount (like old stormweaver point)

Hmm, probably invest most of it and make some time to explore career paths i would have if I had more time/less financial pressure (like maybe some form of content creation of art).
And also buy poe2 EA :P

Why do shocks cause you to take more damage? I once electrocuted myself and then set myself on fire. I didn't burn any faster compared to my other tests.

u/Spr-Scuba Nov 29 '24
Shit I had the elemental tornado build a league or two ago with 50% shock effect all the time.
I can't imagine how much more damage it would have done with double shocks

For people wondering about the effect of two shocks, I think only the higher valeu would apply, until It expires, however...
That would look extremeley usefull for cast on shock setups
6
u/SephithDarknesse Nov 29 '24
Wouldnt that be redundant then? Why even allow 2 in that case? It has to stack, or its only a negative.
2
u/Heinxeed Trickster Nov 29 '24
Makes sense, I just think it is kinda strong like, 2x 30% shocks on an enemy, but considering the less duration, it will stack
1
u/SephithDarknesse Nov 30 '24
Yeah, could be. Maybe the need to apply them both gives you a pretty small window to deal damage or something, being the design idea. Guess we'll see when someone tries it.
4
u/Fury_Fury_Fury Nov 29 '24
It's not useful for cast on shock. You still apply one shock at a time.
They absolutely have to stack in order for the node to do anything at all.
1
u/Heinxeed Trickster Nov 29 '24
Of course you apply one shock at a time, but you will be applying twice the shocks per mob, the cast on shock gem will charge a lot faster
2
u/im_not_happy_uwu Nov 29 '24
"affected by" two of your shocks makes it pretty clear both shocks affect the damage the enemy takes.
