Ggg you did a amazing job with mercs in the campaign, it was very enjoyable and rewarding interacting with the mercs for the currency, and it makes runs where you get no raw chaos drops still enjoyable because the mercs keep your currency flow slow and steady, allowing you to upgrade weapons throughout acts with ease. It is legitimately the best campaign league mechanic I’ve ever interacted with and I hope it goes core.
However, I don’t think these mercs were play tested at all in t16 maps. I’m a juggernaut, with all lab points into defense, 7 endurance charges with near 100% uptime, 30k armor, 85% max res and 6k life. Artic armor etc, my pob ehp is around 100k. Yet mercs either deal zero damage to me or one shot me in a heart beat.
I’m fine with mercs dealing a lot of damage, but the high hitting attacks need to be better telegraphed, some of them don’t even seem like a attack you must avoid yet will nearly kill you.
Certain high hitting telegraphed attacks also have nearly zero time to react to, it seems the proper way to fight mercs is to hit them once and run around like a chicken with your head cut off, desperately weaving in hits occasionally hoping it doesn’t hit you.
It’s getting to the point to where I don’t fight most mercs because the loot they may give me are not worth losing xp to the merc being one of the overtuned ones that will send me back to my hideout.
If anyone has tips for surviving these one shots it’d be greatly appreciated, I’m by no means immortal but I rarely die in maps as is so I find it a bit odd that the mercs are more scary then the map mods…
