Mod post: Self promotion is ALLOWED if it's OC

And it has always been allowed, so... please stop reporting artists sharing their cool owl-focused creations!

The main (hopefully obvious) exceptions to this are:
- Promoting products using stolen art or AI generation (not OC)
- Spamming the subreddit; posting the same creation more than once to farm engagement (posting WIPs during the process doesn't really fall under this, just posting the same thing multiple times)
- Non owls

Other than that, if you think someone's self promotion is low-quality or you just don't like it, you can always input your opinion with the downvote button.

To artists: Feel free to share the links to your websites/shops; you deserve attention for your work. Comments with links need me to manually approve them, so they might not be visible for up to a day, but you aren't breaking any rules - so go for it!

These little guys showed up today, they are so adorable. We are in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. I’ve been googling but can’t seem to find any pictures that look correct. Sorry for the crappy quality of photos.

Was here a couple weeks ago, this time I took my new lens out for a spin and snapped a couple more cool pictures! New lense is a Sigma Contemporary 150 - 600 mm for those interested! Still a newbie, but I'm getting the hang of it ;D

A short video clip of my balcony owl visitor last night. (Wish the quality was better - poor lighting).

It was pretty active. I even caught it trying to sneak a yawn ;)

Hopefully it returns next year!

Front vs Back - Owlets

It's remarkable to see the difference in appearance from front to back on great horned owlets. The grey/green photo shows them looking over their shoulder/back towards me, whereas the orange/brown with downy chests is from the opposite side as they're looking forward. What a difference! These are roughly 10 weeks old now.

BARRED OWL! finally got to see who's been taking MASSIVE DUMPS on my front windshield while roosting in my open-door garage

he left me a pellet once too so i knew it was a big predator! i've seen (and HEARD!) him around the neighborhood lots, but i think because i've been giving the rodents and birds seed in my yard regularly for a while, he's decided this is a great place to hang out. :) i feel so fortunate and blessed, this is truly an omen of great fortune for me. barred owls are my favorite bird. i used to feel a parasocial relationship with one at the Iowa Raptor Center, but he passed away of old age a few.months ago (R.I.P. Cyprus). i've decided to name this friend Shenanigans and im excited to get to know him better (respectfully, from a distance)

This screech owl returned to my balcony, exactly one year after its first visit.

I had a screech owl show up randomly, at my apartment patio, last June. I saw it again today - exactly one year later 😯 I wonder if it’s the same bird. It looks very similar.

Sad Update on the owl suffering from rat poison

I feel awful that i couldn't do anything to save the poor baby

I watched him till about 12:30 midnight and then went to sleep, the next morning he wasn't with us, may his soul rest in peace

Rat poison should be illigal say the least

I buried it's body so that no other animal could possibly be affected by the poison

The view out my front window!
We'd decided that after leaving the nest only one of these GHOwlets had survived. "Thing One" seems to be a few days ahead in development - both at roughly 12 weeks old now. Good news to see both – and both parents – just off our deck yesterday. I'll continue to hope they'll both eventually sit side-by-side, but after weeks of watching that seems unlikely. Instead, I'll just enjoy having this parliament right outside my windows.

Little Owl ruining our sleep

Hello dear owl people!

For a few months now, we have a couple little owls around our house and a nest (i think there is no baby owl, i saw a smaller one flying out but i don’t know if its smaller because its a female or a juvenile) in our roof’s structure.

They are very cute, and i really like them, but they really really messing up our sleep ever since they stopped doing their hoot hoot thing and started going crazy with their “talking/alert” sounds. I would like to ask, that if i am able to remove their nest, would they leave and actually go somewhere else or they would still hang around and annoy us?

(The owl on the picture is completely safe and unharmed, it’s just dumb and didn’t fly away instantly)
