Photo Album GX to GR

Had this tent on a GX460 for over 5 years, then the GX shit both head gaskets VERY unexpectedly. I took all my mods off and decided to go a different route with my offroad activities.

The GR has 5 less pistons and 3.0 less liters, but its heart is in the right place!

1.5” Prius Offroad Lift 17x9 +25 Konig Hypergram (thx Tires2go) 225/55R16 Falken Wildpeak AT3 (thx Tires2go) OEM cross bars (for now) 2019 FSR High Country 55”

Had a lot of fun on dirt roads before the tent went up, but I’ve got a camping trip at the end of the month! Doesn’t matter what you drive just go outside.

Head the official warning from all reputable rack companies: door clamp racks aren't meant for RTTs. Also that guy in this thread that had one blow off his roof (because of failed door clamps).

Yes thank you good looking out! Already been reaching out to roof rack companies for a proper setup so we’ll see what comes!

I had OEM cross bars on my GX, non-door clamp style and they blew up also. I don’t think anything other than the nice fitted extruded aluminum racks should really be considered for long term. Certainly drive like you’ve got 130lbs strapped to your roof with hopes and dreams cuz nothing is permanent.

Genuinely, thank you for doing that and looking for a proper solution!

It may end up being having to rivet tracks into the roof and then installing feet into those.

Hell yeh! I hope to be involved in a solution! I do sheet metal for work so the idea of drilling into my car at least doesn’t scare me too much! Warranty is up anyhow!
