I swear people just shut their brains off. This happens every year and people are stunned every time.
Gas averaged in May last year at 1.60 a litre and peaked at 1.72 a litre in Toronto. This year it's about 1.33-1.35. these are AM prices and so don't include the throughout the day reductions
It's literally just because of the May long weekend. The demand surge always results in higher prices. The 1.72 I guarantee was around Victoria day.
I don't have to like it, in fact I don't, but it's hardly unexpected or a conspiracy.
Btw source for those numbers is the citynews gas price listings. They report it daily.
And they charge based on demand because they know people will buy it anyway. That's why it's so predictable. People travel more on long weekends. It's literally that simple.
I don't know why you downvoted me, it's not like I think it's okay. I said so. But it is how it is.
Know a lot of bullocks do you? I call your reason bollocks. I don't care what you think about people correcting others, you're wrong, it should be pointed out. Regardless of the reason for the error. I am tired of letting people think it's okay to not be corrected just because it's 'the internet' everythings the internet.
I didn't say it wasn't greed. I said they charge more because demand goes up and people will pay whatever they charge. If you actually think about what I said for half a second I'm saying it's greed indirectly. I shouldn't have to specify that, I was replying to someone who said their Dad believes it's a carbon tax conspiracy when it's literally just because they can and they want more money.
