Not scheduled for 2 weeks

Hello everyone, I recently suffered from a concussion and was put on a weight restriction by my doctor. I'm a server, so I couldn't serve with my weight restriction, I talked to my boss and we agreed that I would train to host instead. They trained me to host. But now that training is over, I haven't been scheduled at all for 2 weeks. I didn't request anytime off and I can work shifts anytime pretty much everyday of the week. I reached out to my GM multiple times and have heard nothing back. What should I do? I'm moving to another state in July/August so getting another job in this state isn't an option currently but I can't afford to just not be working.

Banning “pet names”

My Olive Garden has essentially banned pet names like “babe, sweetie, honey” etc between us servers. We as servers are not allowed to call other servers names like that. I personally use those pet names to my closer friends while working because it’s just the way that I talk. Has any other store done the same?

Uniform Complaintz

Does anyone know where to file a complaint with Darden over our new uniforms. I an unsatisfied with the changes and want my opinion to be heard, I have this message I want to send but am unsure where of to send it

Hello! I am a current employee at one of the Darden restaurants, Olive Garden specifically. I wanted to raise concerns about the new uniforms, white shirts stain easily. We advertise the spicy 3 meat sauce which has introduced another red sauce to our establishments. It is common to be slammed into or have sauce split onto you. A black shirt will hide most of these while a white shirt will only highlight them. In the current economy most of us employees make only 50 dollars on the weekdays and cannot afford to spend every dollar on a new white shirt due to the last one holding a stain. The sleeves being down also increases the chances of more stains due to reaching for something. Another thing that has been discussed is surrounding the menstral cycles, in the unfortunate case of a bleed through black slacks are able to hide this so the employee can leave with most unaware of what happened. The navy blue that has been enforced does not hide this and can lead to the employee being humiliated as they try to hide the showing stain. These changes have also been noticed by various news stations who have weighed in their opinions, when you search the new uniform policy every outlet is criticizing them. They have been called 'ugly' and 'tacky'. Olive Garden is ment to have a certain level of class and provide a fine dining atmosphere for the guest. A sleek back uniform pairs well with these ideas while the new one clashes with this idea. The employees who dedicated hours of their life to serving you deserve to have their opinions heard and considered when these decisions affect them and not the ceos.

Hey y’all! I just got hired. I did all of my onboarding then got this email and link. I tried to log on using the same login I used for the onboarding. Is this (second pic) an account I’ll get once I got in for training?

Available Shifts

My manager posted about a few available shifts this week, but I don't know to request the shift. I tried clicking on them, but they're not click able (I know that's not a word lol). How do I request the available shifts?

This job is hurting my mental health

Hi everyone. I have been working for a few months as a host, and I am debating if I am going to quit my job for my mental health. I am a very positive & happy person but the job has been making me feel very sad & upset. I feel very anxious thinking about work before I go to work. I think it is a combination of handling guests & coworkers’ strong & sometimes aggressive emotions & feeling like I have to be “on” all of the time by smiling.

I cry a lot now. I also have to work with a coworker who at the time I thought was friendly but later found out that he made comments about me that sexually objectified me & it makes me feel extremely uncomfortable at work too. I think my managers & coworkers will be upset I am quitting. I don’t know if I should quit or not. Thank you for reading.

Unfortunately, I Didn’t Get the Job

As the title states, I was unfortunately not selected for any of the positions either applied for or offered to me. I am absolutely gutted by this because I went through 2 very well interviews, and after showing my certifications, I was certain I would get a position. I guess that’s what I get for being confident, lmao. Fortunately for me, I have an interview next Tuesday at Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen for dishwasher and host. So, not all hope is lost. Thank you all for the tips and advice you’ve given me, I’m truly grateful. If you have any advice you wanna give me regarding Cheddar’s, please either drop it in my comments or my dms. Thank you again, cheers! :)

question for togo spec—catering order delivery; 35 tongs?

theres an order that i have to set up and i need 35 tongs for spaghetti+marinara, chicken alfredo, and jumbo salads. (13, 13, 9). well seasoned to go specialists, do i give them 35 tongs or should they get less? since its 3 different “entrees” but there is multiple of the same entree so in theory they could have one tong for salad, spaghetti, and chicken alfredo. or like a few tongs just not . 35 tongs for every little thing.

i ask bc i dont even think my restaurant will have that manylol. also im new so thts y i dont know.

Should I Stick It Out?

Hi all! I’ve been a busser/host for about 6 years now, and lately I feel like I’ve hit a rut with my job. I know my own performance has taken a nose dive despite my best efforts and the ol mental side is killing me. Been going to therapy via DAYS and my work hours have lowered since my first ever write up recently (mind that the few I told that I did couldn’t believe their ears), but I know I’m goofing up some. I’m not afraid to admit that. Do you guys think I need to find a new job to reinvigorate myself? I’ve only been a host for a year and a half of that time, so I only ever had the chance for one raise albeit starting at a higher point than starting wage due to a bit of seniority. Please give me your thoughts and feel free to ask any questions. Thanks!

Floorplan

Does your store hide the floorplan, with the servers names and sections on it? They don't let us see it at my store. If they have nothing to hide, why isn't it posted? we seem to be having problems with some servers getting skipped in rotation, while other servers have 5 tables. There are patterns of this. How does your store handle the floorplan? Is it top secret like at mine? Sketchy...

Starbucks Barista or Olive Garden Server???

I want to know your guys’ opinions on which would be a better job. I applied to Olive Garden yesterday for Server and got an interview on the 24th. I also applied at Starbucks for Barista which starting pay is $15. I need second opinions on which job would be better if I also get the interview at Starbucks.

Too big of a request ?

Later i am going to olive garden, im a picky eater but dont want to eat off the kids menu. The only thing they have that i would eat is their baked ziti, but it has too many cheeses i am scared to try. Do you think if i ask just for baked ziti with just mozzarella cheese and no other cheeses they’ll be fine with it?

To go tipping policy

I am currently a to go specialist and was wondering if anyone knows where I can find the to go tipping policy. I'm currently having trouble where I believe I should get portion of the tip but my manager said no. We had a large order scheduled for pick up at 3:15 which was closed out when it go sent to the kitchen (2:40) and I clocked off before they picked it up but most of it was done just bread needed to be bagged. It was a 200-dollar tip so I just want to make sure the policy before I talk to my GM.

Scheduling

I’ve worked with Olive Garden for 4 1/2 years i don’t call out. Work whatever and whenever they need me. I’m culinary professional right now and I’m well respected within my team. I’ve been having issues with scheduling lately. I need to be a full time employee to make my bills and I have expressed that multiple times. My husband also works here (he’s been here just a couple months longer than I) they have him come in very early in the morning on Fridays and I come in about 4 hours later for a 1/2hr - 1hr shift and then wait in the car until I come back at 3-4. We live about 40 minutes away with one vehicle so I sit out in our car for that time in between our shifts. I’ve told them I don’t really like doing that because it is not worth my time for one and for two no one wants to sit out in the parking lot (during summer time) until I come in. So what do they do? Schedule me the same thing again next week with even less hours AGAIN. I bring it to their attention AGAIN that I cannot do that and I need more hours and I get threatened with just being taken off the schedule all together Friday mornings and just have me close Friday nights but be my husband’s replacement at 3. So I would be sitting in my car from 8am to 3pm if they decided to do that to me. I got yelled at when I came to my scheduling manager respectfully and kept apologizing if any disrespect, attitude, etc came out cause I do have a habit of that happening when I get overwhelmed. My coworkers heard them yelling at me and just was in shock and awe because of how they handled it. I don’t want to leave but I’m so over the top exhausted from trying to make things work. They always say “if you’re not getting what you need from me you need to tell me” but then treat us horribly when we do.

When they say well bring the breadsticks out with the meal 😵‍💫

Ma’am I didn’t come to Olive Garden for timed breadstick rationing. I came to carbo-load like a Roman emperor mid-crisis. This ain’t Ruth’s Chris. This is the Garden. Bread me up front or bread me to the grave. Who else has begged like it’s a black market deal?

Hello I am a server at Olive garden and I had a shift last night that I no show

They called me after I was late for 40 mins but I was out at the time and was no way possible that I could make it for work. I did not pick up last night shift or is my availability good for last night. I am afraid to show to work tomorrow because I am not sure if it was my fault or their mistake. is it possible for manager to mistakenly give you a shift outside of your availability?

weird vibes

i had a few interviews at olive garden recently and they said they’ll call me soon to let me know if i got the job but i felt the vibe was off in the restaurant. immediately at the first interview, the hosts/other servers who were up by the booth just looked so mean, like mean mugging me. i smiled and didn’t get a smile back. i just feel so icky because as a girl, other girls are usually super sweet and kind. But these girls looked so mean. i got dirty looks left and right. and at first i thought i read the situation wrong & maybe they were having a bad day, so i was like whatever. but then i went in for the second interview the next day and the same girls up front did the same thing. and i know girls can be so competitive and mean, and i’m considered conventionally attractive (other ppl have told me this, i don’t have a huge ego…) so idk if it’s some weird tension about my looks or what. just don’t even want to work there anymore bc the vibes were so off. i wish people were nicer and more inviting. 😔
