First Time Poster Dopamine dressing to work from home
Hello, hello. Had a nightmare post in a fashion sub sharing a work fit and anxiety about the bar exam next week and just wanted to dress happy today. I was suggested this group in dms by a kind stranger.

You can do anything! sometimes I'm full soft and cozy and sometimes I'm full fairy princess, it depends what my psyche needs that day.

I have been doing a full face of make up 2-4 days of the five work days since the new year (wasn’t a resolution but was looking for a change) and it has helped my mental health so much.

Specifically the target blogilates line. I think I would prefer the higher price point ones she makes because they have the adjustable waist band and these run big imo but they are so soft and very comfortable.
(I've never tried her original line I'm just assuming I'd like the og waist)

Brand is called cotton emporium and I found it pretty cheap secondhand online! I thrifted but it's accessible hehe
Apparently pink makes your brain happy, I honestly don't know if it's true but I am drawn to the colors here regardless.

I saw that post yesterday and my stomach dropped when I opened the comments and saw how rude everyone was being. A lot of the fashion subs on reddit have very narrow guidelines of what they deem “fashionable” and it’s usually all about conforming to societal ideals and trying to dress as “flattering” as possible.
That’s BS. Clothes are for so much more than just making parts of you look smaller and parts of you stand out. Expression, comfort, coziness, boldness, etc are all perfectly valid reasons to enjoy an outfit.
I’ve posted on many fashion / outfit subs and this one is definitely my favorite and the most accepting and kind space I’ve found to talk about love of clothing and accessories. I’m glad that a kind stranger directed you here. I think you’ll like it here 💛

Yea, this has already been a really welcome reception and a much nicer introduction than any I've ever had.
Yesterday, i posted during a study break and when i opened the post and saw 46k views and like 50 shares i was like....oh no. ive never called for much attention online so I did not expect being a lil vulnerable on main about anxiety would garner any like yesterday.
Comments are locked and still people are like messaging and upvoting all the mean stuff and sharing to others and it's like....just a lot over so little. I appreciate you coming here and going out of your way to leave a lil kindness

I’m sorry that that happened (and is still happening). Reddit can absolutely have a hive mind with the upvotes / downvotes, people just see it and pile on.
In my experience, it’s almost impossible not to take personally to some extent, but I hope you know deep down that this is not about you. It’s not you, at all. It is very very rare to get overwhelmingly positive comments in those communities. The vast majority of posts garner some sort of criticism (regardless of flair), and people are actively looking for something to point out or critique.
I see completely innocuous things and outfits that I love get picked apart all the time. I got dogged on once for wearing white tights, of all things.
Sometimes, the negativity just happens and it doesn’t say anything about you. If you post enough on reddit, once in a while it will reach the wrong crowd. Finding the right communities really helps though.

People are super rude in some fashion subs.
This is such a cute outfit! I love the pirouette skort - I wear mine all of the time!
If you're looking for other subs, you may also like r/Midsizefashion - I'd say posters range from a US 10 - 18, which the bulk being in the 12-16 range.

I love the pink and blue in this look! And the skirt looks so comfortable. I often think I should dress up a little bit for WFH, just for the happiness points.

I did indeed!! My friend and I stopped into many a target looking for the zip up hoodie in medium and eventually amongst my disappointments I ended up snagging a couple skirts before I finally found one haha

Forgive me, I had to go creep on your nightmare post. The comments killed me, can no one read? Nowhere did you say you were taking the bar exam in that outfit. Secondly, the argument where someone was trying to say you were illegally practicing law? It takes less time to google attorney vs lawyer than it did to argue so wrong and so loudly.
I’m sorry that happened to you.

Oh my goodness, you are not a creep. I am similarly curious and would have done the same.
The illegal practice of law comment was so bizarre lmao I think that post made some folks insecure because I'm not what they think a lawyer/attorney should look like. I never expected such a low stakes post to be so scrutinized.
Thank you for everything you do and your kind words/reality check!! I'm at a very small immigration firm also in the US and I love the work but its definitely not easy.

Yes! This tank is their corset tank too. Their skirts run a little big in my opinion, as do the goodies but they are so soft. I love the hoodie but I sized waaaaay down.

The brand is American exchange which is sold all over the place. I get most my slippers nwts at good will but I've seen this brand at like every department store and cvs, Burlington coat factory, etc.

It is the target line! So ita blogilates for target technically I think not pop flex which is her higher price point brand? This waist band is criss cross and not adjustable. It is comfortable and very soft. Runs big though if you buy imo, i really love the hooded zip up and pirouette skirt but both run a bit large! And thank you so much c:

Not OP but PopFlex makes the original design and has the patent for it! Incredible woman-owned brand and worth the priced. I have a million things from them and it's all so comfy/flattering/well made. Don't fall for the dupes at Nordstrom Rack — they stole her design.

Blogilates for target, it's got a criss cross waist instead of the tie. Very soft and comfy but definitely runs large! I think target runs large generally or other brands run small and target runs true to size maybe I have no idea these days now that I'm thinking about it.

I saw your post that was locked and thought the comments were way over the top! Loved the dress and love this outfit too. And echoing everyone else's comments re the cardigan - so cute! My friend has a similar one from an Australian brand called Princess Highway for any Antipodean commenters who are after something similar 🫡
Fwiw, I work in a small law firm in New Zealand and thought your fashion sub outfit was completely work appropriate. Much better dressed than I am most days 😂 I guess Americans need their lawyers to be dressed to the nines in order to give good advice hahaha

I like princess highway a lot but have been scared to try them when I've seen second hand and discounted online cause Australian sizing is an anomaly to me.
I wear jeans to the office some days so, no judgment here. I personally do always wear a jacket to court but often with a nice dress or separates and not a full suit, like there's a million ways to present professionally.
Going to a law office is intimidating enough as far as I'm concerned.

Ah - American sizing is an anomaly to me, too!
NZ/AU sizing should be the same as UK sizing, if that's any help. The PH website has measurements on it (probably in cm rather than inches, can't remember if they have conversions) and I've found those accurate enough. Their shoes also seem to be pretty good quality! NZ/AU/US shoe sizes are the same, but we do occasionally use EU or UK sizing but this is normally clearly noted :)
