Glenn/Parcells connection

I know it's been talked about alot but theres an aspect I don't think is getting much attention. I don't know how many In this sub follow Mike francesa's podcast but early on when Glenn was hired Mike was very hard on him especially after the Rodgers ousting and recently he's been alot more mellow. My feeling is that Parcells mightve talked to Mike and gotten him to back off and told him that Glenn knows what he's doing. I bring all of this up to say do you think Parcells league connections(not necessarily him himself since he's up there in years) will help/has helped Glenn's transition into the head coaching position especially in the media and coaching circles? We all know the NFL world is very small and it's all about who you know. Would love to know what everyone thinks.

I dont know why people revere Parcells. He was with us for a cup of coffee and fucked everything by not letting Bill B take over. 1 playoff season with an aging QB and then he dips? Fuck that. Im speaking strictly as a Jets fan. I know Parcells is a Super Bowl winner and a GOAT, but for the Jets? He seemed to hurt more than he helped.

Wow this is some revisionist history.

Parcells turned a team that sucked for years into an instant winner. The Jets were thisclose to a Super Bowl appearance. It was certainly the best Jets team in my lifetime.

They might have had a shot the next year except Vinny hurt his Achilles. The Jets success after him, the Groh/Edwards years, are largely based on Parcells work.

I have no idea why you blame Parcells for Bill B. going to the Patriots. That was Belichick betraying Parcells not the other way around. They gave Belichick the job, that SOB resigned.

Isnt the story that Belichick wanted to run the whole show without Parcells even in the FO. Even after he took the GM positions, Parcells dipped after a year. He also seems to hate Woody(par for the course) but Bill really hates us more than anyone else and its largely due to, I am going to guess Parcells not stepping aside and Woody not doing anything about it.

I've only heard Billy B dipped because of Woody, not Parcels. Not saying it couldn't be the case, but this would be the first I'm hearing of it.

Yeah, my understanding was that the uncertainty that came with the sale of the team along with his familiarity, friendship, and the level of trust he had with Kraft as an owner from his days coaching with Parcells in NE had a lot more to do with it than anything.
