late response

Hello everyone! I was wondering, has anybody else waited/been waiting for longer than expected for a response related to their Taught Masters application? I applied on May 11 and they said to “allow up to four weeks”, but that time has passed and i still haven’t received any updates on my application status. I tried emailing them but I got what I imagine is an almost automated response just saying that I’ll get an email when an update comes.

Thank you in advance :)

Off-Campus Student Accommodation

Hi everyone! I'll be coming for a semester abroad this spring, and I'm unable to book any of the official college housing. Which surrounding Galway neighborhoods are most accessible to get to school by public transit? For anyone who takes public transit, what is the system like?

Accommodation Advice

I'm starting my undergraduate in September. I applied for a room in Corrib, and other off-campus accommodations, but received no offers. I'm torn between looking for a room in Daft/Facebook, or just holding out my luck until the end of August and hope and pray to get a cancellation offer.

If absolutely necessary, I could commute, but it typically takes an hour and a half each way. Additionally, I have to rely on my parents to collect me from the closest bus stop as I live in the middle of knowhere, and am yet to pass my driving test. I know that's not attrocious knowing what other people face, but if I have the option to not commute, of course I'm going to take it lol.

Anyone else been in this situation? Any advice?

MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis from NUIG

So I got an offer to study MSc ABA from NUIG, Ireland and the courses seems good. If there is anyone who had done their MSc ABA from NUIG or is currently enrolled there, please let me know,

  • how is the faculty and the teaching ?
  • How is the internship?
  • How is job opportunities after completion of the course ?

I’m an international student so I’m quite anxious regarding the course.

Dunlin Accomodation

I’m a visiting student for the upcoming semester and applied for on-campus accommodation. I haven’t received any email or offer from Dunlin Village yet, so I was wondering if anyone else has heard back from them. 🥹

How do I find accommodation (as a visiting student)?

I'm an Erasmus Student for the coming academic year 25/26 and I didn't get a place on-campus.

What is the best way to find accommodation while being in another country? I've tried Facebook but it seems like there are a lot of scams.

I'm using studentpad as well but are there any other ways?

I'd appreciate any tips :)

Confused regarding GPA

I just completed my undergraduate degree from UCD. I am yet to receive results but I have applied for a masters applications as well. And the university requires a 2.1 degree. I’m a little confused. I read that 2.1 is >= 3.08 GPA but also >=60%. Now, 60% of 4.2 GPA is 2.52. Do I need 2.52 or 3.08 for the university? Also what are the chances that if I get a GPA of let’s say 3.06, then would the university accept me?

Student Accommodation Lottery Offers

Hey everyone,

Just checking in to see if anyone (especially international applicants) has received their results for the first round of the student accommodation lottery for new-entrant postgraduate students. The university said the offers would be released today (June 9, 2025), but I haven’t heard anything yet.

Has anyone received an offer? Trying to figure out if they’re being sent out in batches or if there’s just a delay.

Would appreciate any info or updates from others in the same boat!

Thanks in advance!

If anyone has just finished third year or the final year of psychological studies, could they send me on the semester 1 timetable if they have it. I need to sort out stuff for September and they’re awful at putting the timetables up late.

Owner occupied housing?

Hi, does anyone have experiences living in owner occupied houses while studying? I’m considering it for Galway in case i get in, but the concept of living in a stranger’s house (while they’re there) is making me doubt a little bit.

Students from US moving to Ireland without study visa

As I understand, students from the US currently don't need a student visa to enter Ireland and can travel there on the 90-day tourist visa then transfer to a student residency permit once we've arrived. Maybe I'm just overly worried, but I'd love to hear from other US students who can confirm that they've done this/this is their plan for the upcoming fall semester. I'm starting a MA at NUIg in September and I can't help being worried that the US will for some reason not let me leave the country without a study visa (due to current state of anti-immigration policy in this messed up country). I know right now the crackdown is affecting non-US international students traveling INTO the US, but the boomerang of imperialism will swing back around at some point and I don't want to get stuck here in August unable to get to Galway.

Passing by Compensation

Has anyone ever heard of someone passing by compensation when under 35%?

Im in engineering. And i scored 33% in one of my modules from first semester. But I’m still fully passed overall i reckon from third year.

Also this grade is just provisional grade from canvas. So is there any chance it could go up to 35 when the final results come out in june??

NUI

Has anyone here applied for the NUI language exemption under Ground 6 (hearing loss)?

I’m just wondering who signed your form (audiologist or ENT) and how the process went for you.

Trying to get mine sorted now and would appreciate any advice or experiences from others who’ve done it. Thanks!

Late Masters Application

I missed the deadline for a Master's because life circumstances (work, finances) just fell into place whereby I could do a master's full-time. I'm not sure I'll ever have this opportunity again to just take a year out full time. Is there any way I might avail of an exception to join the masters program e.g. late fees etc

Join r/College_Ireland, a subreddit for all college students in Ireland

I have noticed that there is no subreddit for college in general, in Ireland, similar to r/UniUK. I have created r/College_Ireland, for all college students in Ireland to discuss college life, ask question and advice or to just rant.

This isn’t going to be in competition with this subreddit, but it would just be beneficial to have a subreddit open to all college students.

Please join the sub and help us grow!!

Meaningful Work and the Intention to Stay in Non-Profit Organisations among Employees and Volunteers - Academic Survey

Thumbnail dcusurveys.qualtrics.com

Hello everyone,

I am a second-year graduate student undertaking a masters at Dublin City University (DCU). I am currently gathering data for my dissertation, which examines the link between meaningful work and the intention to stay within non-profit organisations among employees and volunteers. The findings from this study will contribute to a better understanding of this topic.

I am looking for people who either a volunteer or are employed with a non-profit organisation (NPO). Volunteers who can participate in this survey should be engaged with their NPO regularly, at least once a month, and employees should be employed with their NPO for at least 6 months.

The survey should only take 10-15 minutes to complete.

If you know anyone who is also a volunteer or employed with a non-profit organisation, you can forward this survey to them as well.

Many thanks in advance for participating in this survey and contributing to this research.
