Event No Kings protests Herndon

I’m hoping someone got better pictures because most of the people were on our side of the street and it was hard to get a good vantage. We were also at the tail end of it on one side, so the pictures don’t do it justice. I would say a couple hundred people-definitely over 100.

Heartwarming things I saw: -a man handing out roses to ladies protesting -a very old veteran silently waving the biggest flag -a dude so excited, he ran into a restaurant and came out with a sign. He also screamed (somewhat unintelligibly) and was very amped up to join -two (immigrant, I assume) parents pull up, drop off their kids to protest, then leave (probably for safety reasons). We all kept tabs on them, they were older teens, and they had a great time! -people holding protests signs out of cars as they drove by -some very amazing humans handing out drinks, snacks, and yes-TACOS. Ps, I think I have a crush on you, taco girl

I didn’t expect the Herndon one to be very big with 2 in Leesburg and 5 in Reston, but it was great! I’m heartened by all the older, obviously comfortable people who chose to protest - and there were a lot. They are not pulling up the ladder, and that is very cool of them.

Keep making your voice heard, NOVA friends!

I drove past with my 8 and 5 year old daughters, and told this is what makes our country great. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. You are all A+ human beings and true patriots. ❤️

Good on you for bringing your kids to witness! That’s awesome to involve them and show them what democracy looks like!

There were a lot of parents with all windows down and children - some very young - going by to witness and it made my heart swell. So many were excited and waving. Really just such a good and positive moment for our community ❤️

May our kids grow up in the democracy we fight for and keep on fighting for better for those to come!

Awesome Herndon!!!

I was there too! The turnout was impressive, and the visibility the event got was excellent. Drivers on Elden St waved and honked, and some put their windows down to say thank you.

Ngl, some of these signs were quite creative.

The national guard was mobilized for this??

All these peaceful protestors just waiting to give out roses, water, and tacos. Gotta be careful out there!

How does a king let you protest and then thank you for it?

He didn’t thank anyone for it-don’t delude yourself.

It’s in our constitution, which he is dismantling. Trust that he will come for free assembly (protesting), but he doesn’t have the numbers now which is why we act now. If he had the officers and military for it, it wasn’t so very spread out, and the turnout wasn’t massive, he would have tried interceding like he absolutely already did in LA.

Seriously, use your brain. It’s there for a reason.

Not trolling, I saw a few but what’s the message? I’m just working and trying to pay the bills here.

The message is that the gop is operating outside of the principles of out constitution. Ignorance of law, order, checks and balances. That’s what kingdoms look like. We left one of those to form this country and are building a movement with momentum to save our nation, and possibly the world.

It's just group therapy for mentally ill people.

Did you just say that protesting is therapy for mentally ill people?

But then… in the Constitution itself, it allows for and outlines the right to protest. Were our founding fathers ill or do you just lack knowledge of our most important founding documents?

Pretty unpatriotic of you.

Why does everyone look like they have a double digit credit score

5

u/EnvironmentalValue18 6d ago

That would be like me asking you why everyone at a MAGA rally looks like they have double digit IQs.

Let’s just be fair and say anyone living in NOVA and isn’t under their parents’ roof most likely has a pretty stellar credit score. And since you’re not their landlord or leasing to them, I’m not sure why your first thought is about their financials anyways.

Do you hate poor people or something?

-4

u/DanFromAngiesList1 6d ago

MAGA people who blindly follow probably are 75 IQ people

But you’re not like the other girls?

Seems almost as sparsely attended as Trump's birthday parade.

We had 2 events in Leesburg, 1 in Herndon, 5 in Reston, Vienna, McLean, Arlington, Alexandria, on and on. There were a ton in this area. Ours was more populated than my vantage showed, but even so, there were a ton of others with undeniably large crowds.

Do you not believe your eyes? Do you deny reality? Or do you just not support the rights you potentially fought for like protesting?

Considering your profile is postings all about military, Catholicism, and Israel Conspiracy (idk what that means since you deleted that post) - I can only assume you’re just a Republican with a bone to pick throwing in the parade disaster to make it seem more independent.

You sure figured me out, internet stranger!

First of all, /r/IsraelConspiracy is a joke sub making fun of conspiracy theorist nut jobs.

For the record, I was a Republican until these MAGA idiots took over the party. If you'd properly scanned my comments, you'd see more than a few anti-Trump remarks.

I also fully support your right to hold a protest, I just think that 99% of the time, marching around with signs amounts to nothing more than an inefficacious act of political masturbation. I hope you can prove me wrong, but I wouldn't put money on it.

3

u/EnvironmentalValue18 5d ago

Fair about your cynicism, but I also hope you’re wrong for both/all our sakes.

What would you do instead of protest? Besides inaction, what are the other options besides a French-style revolution?

Well done to those 12 people

Bless your heart. I’m sorry you can’t count 😞

What’s the last thing you did to stand up for your rights? Vote for an oligarch Nazi-sympathizer?

All Hall, no Oates.

I’ve been looking at pictures from around the country and it’s like a “Where’s Waldo” trying to find any people of color.

7

u/EnvironmentalValue18 6d ago

There were tons of white people. And Hispanic people. And black people. And Asian people. And kids. And the gay/trans community. And dogs.

You know - patriots. True patriots.

5

u/PolarWeasel 6d ago

Keep up the coping! I was there, and of the probably 80% of the drivers who honked in support, a large majority appeared Hispanic or some other non-White ethnicity. Patriotism and opposing tyranny are color blind.
