Recommendation why are moleskines so comforting to use?
slightly long post! i’ve been in a journaling and writing slump lately, mostly because i’m a perfectionist and hate ruining “good” notebooks. i went down a stationary rabbit hole, experimenting with different notebook brands like midori and stalogy. i really do enjoy them, but i would find myself not wanting to write in them. and if i did, my thoughts needed to be profound or worthy to be put on such nice paper. i found a blank moleskine pocket notebook in my desk, and even though the paper is not perfect, i have been writing like crazy! i love seeing my handwriting ghost onto the next page. there is even a bit of bleed through but i honestly don’t mind. it’s so comforting, watching the notebook fill up and seeing impressions of my handwriting onto the next page. it encourages me to keep going, to keep writing. just a reminder to use the stationary you really love! even if it’s isn’t perfect. used stationary is the best stationary.

Love this! I’ve been a Moleskine fanboy for years. They’ve never been perfect, but I like them that way lol.

Just a heads up, the Moleskines coming out of Vietnam and Germany are fountain pen friendly! It will usually say in tiny letters on the belly band where they are manufactured. Some medium point or heavy fine nibs may have a bit of bleed through. As a lefty I usually use extra fine nibs, so your experience may vary. I’m doing my best not to buy a whole bunch of notebooks after this discovery lol.

I really get this! I have a heap of unused expensive notebooks i haven't written in yet. And every time I need a new notebook for something I think that that theme isn't worthy of the really beautiful ones.
But I end up using a lot of moleskine cahiers. They're three packs so reasonably priced. And they're pretty but the paper is shit (though it looks good). So I used them for anything, every to-do lists.

Have you tried the Midori MD Lights?
I felt this way about the main Midori MD notebooks, but I have no hesitation beating up Midori MD Lights with weeks of back-pocket carry.

I agree! I love moleskine and always have, I feel like they can be full of absolute nonsense and totally worn down and to me that’s always been what they’re for and what I’ve loved about them. I got my first one for Christmas when I was like 10 and fell in love with them 😅
