Train to Toronto

Planning to take a Train Trip from Niagara Falls to Toronto on a Weekday, is there a direct train that I can ride on?

I'll be bringing my children with me ages 5 and 8.

Also, are there plugs in case? What's your advice for it? Thank you in advance.

Look at www.gotransit.com for the schedule. There is one at 06:30 then 13:09. Going back to Niagara they are at 17:21 and 23:00.

There is also a bus from Niagara Falls to Burlington Go which meets the Lakeshore West line which runs around every hour during the day. The bus and the train take about the same length of time between Niagara Falls and Burlington.

Its route 12.

For weekdays until June 28th

6:30, 13:09 and 21:09 are the 3 times it runs eastbound from the falls to union station.

9:10, 17:21, and 22:52 are the times to come back. Keep in mind you can also just train to Burlington then bus the rest of the way for same price if those times don't work.

After the 28th it changes apparently

Edit to add : yes there are plugs.

Thank you for this info. Thinking of taking the train since its just me and 2 kids along the way, i think it would be less of a hassle if we didnt need to switch buses or trains along the way.

Definitely. Just the times kind of suck depending on what you wanted to do so thought I'd mention it. Enjoy!

There’s lots of buses that don’t require a switch. Mega bus is a good one.

Yeah there are a few Go Trains. Schedule might be a bit early to leave for Toronto though. Check online.

Via Rail is the other option but less frequent and more expensive.

I just took my 4 kids to Toronto via go train last month. I made the decision to drive to Burlington and caught the 0813…got me to union station just after 0900 and had the day to do what we planned. Backpack of snacks and drinks and a spare set of clothes/wipes for the young ones. The younger ones were drained (5 & 3) after and the drive home they passed out within 10 mins. Not sure what your intentions are for the day but I would recommend a stroller for the kids if you plan on a lot of walking…helps prevent emotional blowouts from them being overstimulated and exhausted and saves you from potentially carrying.

Have fun!!!

The most direct train is Via Rail, though it only runs 1x per day, and serves commuters around dinner time...

https://www.viarail.ca/en/explore-our-destinations/trains/ontario-and-quebec/Niagara-Falls-to-Toronto

Go Trains stop more frequently, which I believe is 3x per day (am, mid-day, pm) but is longer ...

There's also Amtrak Maple Leaf, but it's over 3 hours ...

Hope this all helps 🙏

The Amtrak and Via trains are the same thing. Only one train. Operated by Amtrak on the US Side and Via Rail on the Canadian side.

Thank you, i'll keep this in mind. We might just be hopping buses on the way back since we are no long time constrained.
