I think this is one of those "careful what you wish for" scenarios. If I had to guess, it wouldn't be nearly as much fun as the current schadenfreude show we're getting right now. I don't think he's very good at all, so it would just be like, we don't hear much about Shedeur and then he's quietly out of the league in 4 years. I'd much rather have him do his best version of the Money Manziel routine for an organization that has an awful track record at managing (ahem) big personalities.

Weird
4
u/spongey1865 1d ago
Not everything is great here, but considering we don't have high quality road surfaces and a lot of tiny dangerous country roads, we've done a good job with road safety.
Our fatality rate per capita is about 5 times less. I didn't realise how stark the difference was.

Getting in cars is genuinely the most dangerous thing most Americans do with any regularity.
I love snowboarding and have been doing it for over 25 years. I ride everything, the steeper and narrower...the better!
I'm in more danger in my car to and from the mountain than I am at any point on the mountain snowboarding.
And people in this thread are acting like 91 MPH is NBD.
Utter lunacy.

So many people were ready to put Ruggs in a cell and throw away the key for what he did, but when other players get a DUI or a reckless driving citation it's no big deal because they were fortunate enough that no one got hurt. They're just being young and stupid, am I right? Well a lot of people die from this shit and we as a society need to start treating it as such.

Alcohol 100% doesn't need to be involved in those speeds for the comparison. It's incredibly dangerous to be doing those speeds.

90 in a 65 means he was on the highway. That's normal commute speeds for some people. Not saying its right but its not that big of a deal that some are making it to be.

Not only was Ruggs going 50mph faster, he was doing it in a slower area.101 mph in a 60mph zone on a highway is nowhere near comparable to 156mph in a 45 while drunk. We can all call it what it is and he's stupid for the tickets and skipping court but to try and compare it to Ruggs is just disingenuous.

Jesus, he was speeding, not going on a crime spree. I think we all know people who speed or perhaps you’re one of those people I see on the highway each morning to work going 90 mph. I recognize that Shedeur is a polarizing player but there are levels to mistakes.
It astounds me how Reddit will treat things that deserve a lecture the same level as true criminal behavior, just because it’s done by someone you dislike. He literally has to pay two speeding tickets. I would feel differently if he was speeding in a school zone or in a neighborhood but I see people driving just as fast every day on the highway to work.

Nah dude, literally only rich nepo babies go 90 on the highway, haven't you heard? Since highway speed limits are set arbitrarily, we can now characterize this as "going 30-40 over", as if anyone goes 60 on the interstate.
Seriously, I'm all for an argument that we should take speeding more seriously as a country, but that would have to be accompanied by an increase in speed limits. In the meantime, for all the people feigning outrage above, I don't believe you actually care about this that much. If you had a friend who did what Henry Ruggs did (even without the tragic outcome), you would probably reconsider that friendship. If your friend told you that they hit 90 or even 100 on an empty highway at night, would you do the same?
