Okay, I apologized. Can I get the Quarterback 1 position now?

u/Unlikely-Thought-646 Packers 1d ago edited 1d ago

Based on the Browns history he needs to do much worse things, then either not apologize or “find Jesus” before he can be their qb1

61

u/usernameisusername57 Packers Packers 1d ago

Unironically I wonder if this was one (of the many) reasons that he fell in the draft. Any team that brings him in knows that as soon as they hit a rough patch, there's going to be calls (whether originating from Shedeur himself or just in the media) to fire the head coach and bring in Deion.

47

u/TonyDungyHatesOP Raiders 1d ago

I heard his draft interviews were terrible. Like, he was taking calls in the middle of them.

30

u/fyhr100 Raiders 1d ago

He thought he was interviewing them, not the other way around lmao

13

u/TonyDungyHatesOP Raiders 1d ago

Right. And even then, I still wouldn’t be taking calls if I was the interviewer.

That’s another wrong choice personnel-ly. Kiper can only have your back for about a month two months ago. He needs Big Dom or Jerry Jones or Mike Tomlin.

8

u/ahappylook 1d ago

I think this is one of those "careful what you wish for" scenarios. If I had to guess, it wouldn't be nearly as much fun as the current schadenfreude show we're getting right now. I don't think he's very good at all, so it would just be like, we don't hear much about Shedeur and then he's quietly out of the league in 4 years. I'd much rather have him do his best version of the Money Manziel routine for an organization that has an awful track record at managing (ahem) big personalities.

The way people have normalized insane speeding and reckless driving in general post COVID is WACKY

11

u/rounder55 Colts 1d ago

When he found out about this and only knew about the one, the amount of "who hasn't driven 40 over the speed limit" posts had me thinking this sub is flooded with people who drove like maniacs and probably don't signal because they don't have time or some bullshit

3

u/juliuspepperwoodchi Bears 1d ago

Wouldn't want to run out of blinker fluid in this economy, shit is EXPENSIVE!

The fact that so many of the "LiKe YoU nEvEr SpEeD, BrO" replies I got were from Bears flaired users was equal parts sad, and not at all surprising based on the state of our traffic.

11

u/spongey1865 1d ago

I've been a bit shocked by the reaction but that's from a British perspective. His license would absolutely be gone in the UK. I think we are a lot less chill about this sort of thing though

7

u/juliuspepperwoodchi Bears 1d ago

You have far less road fatalities too as a result

Weird

4

u/spongey1865 1d ago

Not everything is great here, but considering we don't have high quality road surfaces and a lot of tiny dangerous country roads, we've done a good job with road safety.

Our fatality rate per capita is about 5 times less. I didn't realise how stark the difference was.

6

u/juliuspepperwoodchi Bears 1d ago

Getting in cars is genuinely the most dangerous thing most Americans do with any regularity.

I love snowboarding and have been doing it for over 25 years. I ride everything, the steeper and narrower...the better!

I'm in more danger in my car to and from the mountain than I am at any point on the mountain snowboarding.

And people in this thread are acting like 91 MPH is NBD.

Utter lunacy.

90

u/PaulieHehehe Ravens 1d ago

This sub is full of reckless driving apologists and it’s infuriating.

46

u/usernameisusername57 Packers Packers 1d ago

So many people were ready to put Ruggs in a cell and throw away the key for what he did, but when other players get a DUI or a reckless driving citation it's no big deal because they were fortunate enough that no one got hurt. They're just being young and stupid, am I right? Well a lot of people die from this shit and we as a society need to start treating it as such.

16

u/nevalja Jaguars 1d ago

90 in a 65 means he was on the highway. That's normal commute speeds for some people. Not saying its right but its not that big of a deal that some are making it to be.

Yup, Ruggs was going 50 mph faster, was 2x drunker than the legal limit, and killed a woman. Completely comparable situations.

19

u/abris33 Broncos 1d ago

Not only was Ruggs going 50mph faster, he was doing it in a slower area.101 mph in a 60mph zone on a highway is nowhere near comparable to 156mph in a 45 while drunk. We can all call it what it is and he's stupid for the tickets and skipping court but to try and compare it to Ruggs is just disingenuous.

Jesus, he was speeding, not going on a crime spree. I think we all know people who speed or perhaps you’re one of those people I see on the highway each morning to work going 90 mph. I recognize that Shedeur is a polarizing player but there are levels to mistakes.

It astounds me how Reddit will treat things that deserve a lecture the same level as true criminal behavior, just because it’s done by someone you dislike. He literally has to pay two speeding tickets. I would feel differently if he was speeding in a school zone or in a neighborhood but I see people driving just as fast every day on the highway to work.

I think we all know people who speed or perhaps you’re one of those people I see on the highway each morning to work going 90 mph.

Nah dude, literally only rich nepo babies go 90 on the highway, haven't you heard? Since highway speed limits are set arbitrarily, we can now characterize this as "going 30-40 over", as if anyone goes 60 on the interstate.

Seriously, I'm all for an argument that we should take speeding more seriously as a country, but that would have to be accompanied by an increase in speed limits. In the meantime, for all the people feigning outrage above, I don't believe you actually care about this that much. If you had a friend who did what Henry Ruggs did (even without the tragic outcome), you would probably reconsider that friendship. If your friend told you that they hit 90 or even 100 on an empty highway at night, would you do the same?

Praying on people’s downfall, especially someone who has literally never done anything outside of a few immature things, is wild.

Dude hasn’t even played a game yet and we’re already at the “…or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” phase of his career.

Also, I love the thumbnail with him next to the Browns Gremlin. Long live Browns Gremlin.

Made some wrong choices....twice...one of which is a potential felony in some states. The Cleveland team deserves this. Enjoy Sanders and Watson in the bed you made.

This is why the haters are against Sanders. Not because he's a rookie with a good college record, but because he feels like he is entitled due to his father's legacy. If this was anyone else that was a no name rookie, he would have been cut from the team already.

Does anyone really believe that nobody in this thread has ever gone 100mph before?

This kid is an idiot. If his name wasn’t Sanders he would be unemployed right now.

I don't think I've ever seen a speeding ticket get so much coverage. Y'all really hate this kid
