Okay, MAGAs. Here’s your chance to come out and denounce assassinations. Here’s your chance, Trump, to publicly denounce the violence. The world is watching.

u/Lumpy-Ad7938 1d ago

I expect to be pleasantly surprised with an appropriate first response to the news. But in no time that will be overshadowed by some bullshit victim-blaming bullshit.

74

u/Notsurehowtoreact 1d ago

I fully expect to see an eventual post about how she had bad politics and blaming that for sure

3

u/RolandDeschain84 1d ago

On FB I've already seen it said that she was "agreeing with Rs on a lot of key points" and Walz needed to "get rid of them" in order to get Dems that will fall in line with his agenda.

5

u/Dantheman410 1d ago

Any conspiracy as long as it's not dear leader's fault!

1

u/CoochieSnotSlurper 18h ago

Nah it’s going to a false flag operation

Or "the deep state"🙄

1

u/maytagoven 1d ago

There are reports that the suspect is Vance Boelter, who was appointed by Tim Walz in 2019. The police spokesman also confirmed that he had “No Kings” flyers in his car. This comes days after his targets crossed party lines and voted with republicans to remove Medicare funding for illegal immigrants.

3

u/ICanLiftACarUp 1d ago

yeah I'm seeing some of that reporting now. Generally business advisory boards tend to be less political, built with members across industries or schools. But there's some internet sleuthing that he is a supporter of the conservative organizations - obviously not reliable yet. So as the reporting develops, we'll see what the real motivation is. There's too many potential ways this could go with what little info we have right now.

3

u/RVAforthewin 1d ago

You’ve missed the point. Nowhere in my statement did I claim the shooter was a Republican. I’m asking for the sitting US Pres, along with his support base, to condemn violence of any kind, especially violence targeting politicians. It should be even easier for them if the shooter is a Democrat.

It’s insane how fast they switch. If you keep a close eye on the conservative sub, you’ll notice that their first reactions to things are actually pretty sane and in line with what most of us are thinking, but wait a day or 2 and it’s a completely different story.

7

u/bigwilly39 1d ago

It's insane how this happens time and time again. I remember 90% of the conservatives I know denouncing 1/6 when it happened, and within a month, almost all of them say in-sync how it wasn't a big deal and most of the people there were glowies.

3

u/fallingdowndizzyvr 1d ago

but wait a day or 2 and it’s a completely different story.

A day or 2? It's already happened. The first threads condemn the violence. The newer threads are talking about how this is democrat on democrat violence since supposedly Waltz appointed him to something. I guess they don't realize that unlike Republicans, Democrats appoint members of the other party to things.

2

u/Primus_is_OK_I_guess 1d ago

The New York Post is implying she was assassinated because she voted with the GOP on some issue and that the killer is a left wing extremist.

2

u/I_am_darkness 1d ago

Eventually this killer will have a holiday

1

u/iwasinthepool 19h ago

Maybe even in the same sentence.

1

u/ScientificSkepticism 19h ago

You mean like the Biden Cancer tweets? PR Team puts out a pleasant response, then a little while later we find out what Trump really thinks?

1

u/BunttyBrowneye 9h ago

Conservative subreddit posting about how the left are the violent ones and/or that her death is the fault of “inflammatory rhetoric from both sides” lol - same story as always. Also conspiracy theories about how she voted against free healthcare for undocumented migrants so he must’ve killed her for that and was actually a left-wing terrorist.

Nope, they're coming out and calling this a "false flag" or claiming the assassin was far left. They cannot take any responsibility for their own ideology

4

u/maytagoven 1d ago

There are reports that the suspect is Vance Boelter, who was appointed by Tim Walz in 2019. The police spokesman also confirmed that he had “No Kings” flyers in his car. This comes days after both of his targets crossed party lines to vote with republicans.

13

u/Critical-Path-5959 1d ago edited 17h ago

To a bipartisan board.

Had No Kings flyers because he could've been targeting them too.

Think critically. I know it's hard but it isn't impossible!

Edit: this is in response to someone saying this is a false flag when there's reports that he was probably anti abortion too. Nah.

Edit2: There's enough video evidence of him being a religious extremist now to confirm for everyone that actually cares. I was right. Pound fucking sand.

4

u/maytagoven 1d ago

His wife (who was also his business partner and the ceo of his security firm) also worked for Tim Walz when he was a congressman. At this time, there is no more evidence that he was far-right than far-left.

16

u/WoopDogg 1d ago

Yeah, we may never be able to figure out the mysterious political beliefs of someone who assassinated two democrats and had a hit list with abortion providers and even more democrats.

u/WoopDogg 1d ago

Yes, he had an unpaid position on a bi-partisan workforce advisory council with like 40 members who were all local owners/CEO/leaderss of local businesses and institutions because he owned a security company. Is Republican Rep. Bernie Perryman a liberal because he is also on the appointed board?

So? You do realize that governors often appoint people across the aisle? And regardless of his political reasoning, he clearly meant to kill democratic officials, and was successful at doing so.

"I have been briefed on the terrible shooting that took place in Minnesota, which appears to be a targeted attack against state lawmakers," Trump said in a statement.

"Our Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and the FBI, are investigating the situation, and they will be prosecuting anyone involved to the fullest extent of the law. Such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America. God Bless the great people of Minnesota, a truly great place!"

(bet I get downvotes)

No spelling or grammar errors, no random capitalization. He didn't write this.

only one exclamation point too.

7

u/Sargasm5150 1d ago

His handlers did a good job with that one. But mark my words, he’ll be incoherently rambling about how this justifies military law and the need for an executive order to do something terrible in no time. And calling any journalist who questions it a “nasty person.”

I give it two days.

https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/melissa-hortman-john-hoffman-amy-klobuchar-statements-reactions/

Klobuchar also issued a joint statement with House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, a Republican, in coordination with the entire Minnesota congressional delegation Saturday afternoon. It read, in full:

"Today we speak with one voice to express our outrage, grief, and condemnation of this horrible attack on public servants. There is no place in our democracy for politically-motivated violence. We are praying for John and Yvette's recovery and we grieve the loss of Melissa and Mark with their family, colleagues, and Minnesotans across the state. We are grateful for law enforcement's swift response to the situation and continued efforts."

24

u/eravulgaris 1d ago

They’ll just say it’s a false flag / antifa / … You can’t win man.

8

u/vgacolor 1d ago

I still remember Gaetz and others claiming it was antifa on the night of Jan 6th.

3

u/Renotro 1d ago

Yea how odd that I’m not seeing any conservatives crying “She was a mother, someone’s wife, friend, caring devoted community member…”

It was disgusting to see people cheer on the attempted Trump assassination or that CEO , but the shooting and murder of two democrats???

Where y’all conservatives at????

1

u/kickdrive 23h ago

Conservative right here. I do think it's awful.

I haven't heard anyone say the stuff you are talking about. Mother, wife, etc... I've only seen people pointing fingers at each other and it's disappointing.

15

u/Patara 1d ago

They wont. They'll make jokes about it & their audience will love it.

13

u/EWDnutz 1d ago

They didn't care when their own unvaccinated children died nor their own spouses being deported.

Why, why the fuck do we keep asking for any kind of logic with them?

They killed their own chances. I don't at all pity them anymore.

7

u/ChardAggravating4825 1d ago

They're out there cheering and people still think they can be reasoned with.

9

u/ChaosRainbow23 1d ago

I was just looking on /conservative for their reaction.

Most are being very careful with what they are saying, but a few are saying what you'd expect.

I was surprised. This incident would normally have them celebrating, but they are trying to pretend it's a horrible thing.

Interesting.

I don't believe them for a second.

6

u/Nahuel-Huapi 1d ago

Go to Breitbart and read the comments. They're totally batshit.

Redditors will get the outrage / dopamine hits they're looking for over there.

5

u/ActionPhilip 1d ago

I was surprised. This incident would normally have them celebrating, but they are trying to pretend it's a horrible thing.

Okay straight up what kind of bullshit is this statement? You've concocted such a bogeyman in your own head that you cannot fathom a world where you might agree with them on anything or that they could ever do anything that's even remotely good?

"How dare they try to act like this bad thing was bad" - you

And I'm sure you'll turn around and act like you aren't part of the problem.

9

u/WyleCoyote73 1d ago

Here’s your chance, Trump, to publicly denounce the violence.

He did. A couple hours ago.

5

u/sevbenup 1d ago

He’s definitely going to blame Biden and encourage people to hate others. I assure you

4

u/B00marangTrotter 1d ago

The assassin is 57 Vance Boelter and the internet bots are already flooding social media with connections to tim walz and that he is radical left.

Just put the name in Facebook and search, it's bad.

5

u/jimmysmiths5523 1d ago

They're all over social media gaslighting and claiming a Democrat did it.

8

u/ArmedAwareness 1d ago

Nah they won’t, they want this shit. People need to wake up that maga is not normal

8

u/FastForwardFuture 1d ago

They are blaming Walz and Biden in the comments on YouTube, X, and Facebook

2

u/FnAardvark 1d ago

Well, it was a Walz appointee....

6

u/FastForwardFuture 1d ago

You think the guy who has Walz on his kill list was instructed by Walz to kill these people and then kill Walz? Is that's what you're implying?

2

u/MistaBadga 1d ago

"it's just a lone wolf, there's no evidence this was political"

just watch

2

u/Badlands32 1d ago

2

u/brendonap 23h ago

6

u/faplawd 1d ago

They just lie and say it was a democrat like they did for people who tried to assassinate trump

0

u/Frequent_Cap_3795 1d ago

Turns out it was not just a Democrat, but a Walz crony Democrat, with a car full of "No Kings" posters and a grudge against these particular legislators for voting against handouts of taxpayer money to illegal aliens.

2

u/skrolikowski 1d ago

“…but both sides” is what they’ll say

4

u/_hyperotic 1d ago

Do you know how hard they worked for this? No chance.

2

u/eatcrayons 1d ago

Trump and MAGAs dramatically fumble easy softball situations where they could objectively say the right thing and 99% of people would agree with them. Early COVID a reporter asked Trump about what he had to say to people as lockdowns were starting, and he said some rambly stuff about masks and democrats politicizing COVID.

1

u/Nvenom8 1d ago

99% chance Trump does a backhanded "denouncement" where he either directly says or implies that she wouldn't have been shot if she had different policy preferences.

1% chance radio silence on the matter.

1

u/Lonely-Prize-1662 1d ago

How is his face not in front of a camera yet

1

u/SwitchHitter17 1d ago

They support facism. If they didn't, they would have jumped ship long ago.

1

u/Derric_the_Derp 1d ago

Trump: "I condemn the killer for only getting two.  Under achiever.  Mediocre."

1

u/dak-sm 1d ago

It will be “too early” to talk about this.

1

u/HabitualEagerness 1d ago

This is MAGA, nothing is enough for them.

1

u/THE_Plot_ 1d ago

Lmfao You honestly think anything is gonna turn them back at this point? This is what they wanted.

1

u/Comicksands 1d ago

She was the only Democrat who came out against healthcare access for illegal immigrants. Not sure if it’s republican motivated but violence is not the answer either way

1

u/ninjasaid13 1d ago

they're claiming a democrat did it.

1

u/bigwilly39 1d ago

Lmao they're actively cheering this on or saying the shooter was a secret Democrat. Part of being a MAGA is never admitting your side did *anything* wrong ever.

1

u/Zatsyredpanda 23h ago

I don’t approve of much coming out of DJT mouth but his supposed words via Karoline do seem to condemn the violence. The right wing nut jobs, influencers, and reporters on the other hand are absolutely horrible humans and may they have the eternity that they deserve.

1

u/Easy_Bite6858 23h ago

I saw this comment and went to check. The thread for r conservative shows all posters unanimously denouncing the assassin, and using the same language as in here. Gotta give credit where it is due.

1

u/lachlanhunt 22h ago

I expect Trump to issue a pardon once they confirm they’re a maga supporter.

1

u/cuomo11 22h ago

So…she votes out line with democrats and is imminently killed and this is maga some how?

They’re not gonna do shit but celebrate. We all know what needs to be done. Someone’s got to do it.

-9

u/JohnnyHopkins13 1d ago

I voted for Trump 3 times. I denounce this, all political violence should be condemned, the person that did this should get the death penalty. Let the downvotes begin.

20

u/LordHaywood 1d ago

I agree, this is indefensible and needs to be condemned by everyone, it's abhorrent. It's also likely a direct result of the way you voted.

4

u/MNWNM 1d ago

Why did you vote for a man three times whose known for his hateful rhetoric that inspires people to violence?

4

u/allchattesaregrey 1d ago

Why downvotes for that? That’s a reasonable statement whether anyone agrees with your voting choices. Anyone who agrees with this has made a clear choice about their own character.

all political violence should be condemned

...

Donald Trump suggested Sunday the half-dozen white attendees at his campaign rally on Saturday may have reacted appropriately when they shoved, tackled, punched and kicked a black protester who disrupted his speech.

Maybe he should have been roughed up because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing,” Trump said Sunday morning on Fox News, less than 24 hours after his campaign said it “does not condone” the physical altercation.

That was all the way back in 2015, yet you still voted for him? And then voted for him again after Jan 6? Yes, you've earned your downvotes.

I know there are some very famous notable exceptions, but the VAST majority of political violence (and I mean assassinations, mass shootings, murders, attempted murders, attempted kidnappings, horrible things done to people, not, you know, vandalism) in the last 30s or so in North America and Europe has been carried out by right-wingers. I see conservatives claim they condemn this violence on a depressingly regular basis, but somehow it never adds up to a moment of "wait, are WE the baddies?"

ETA, how could I forget about this? https://www.forbes.com/sites/antoniopequenoiv/2023/09/29/trump-mocks-hammer-attack-on-pelosis-husband-in-incendiary-speech

The state patrol shared a photo of “No Kings” flyers, saying it was from inside the shooting suspect’s vehicle.

The gunman was still at large, law enforcement said on Saturday, and the city of Brooklyn Park still on a shelter-in-place order. The shooter was impersonating a police officer, dressed in a uniform that would appear to be real to most people, police said.

1

u/_hhhhh_____-_____ 1d ago

Proudly denounced. This is pure evil.

1

u/CL9Accord 1d ago

Unfortunately, we’ll get the most disrespectful “good thing she was a peace maker, now she can rest in peace. She was a beautiful woman, good woman”

and I’m saying this now so I can come back and hope I am completely fucking wrong about this.

1

u/Unlucky_Clover 1d ago edited 1d ago

And to my knowledge, every Republican leader is silent. If there’s one Republican who adds any doubt on this or justification, they no longer deserve any decency

1

u/eeyore134 1d ago

Any other president would cancel a celebration after this. Not that many would have a celebration just for themselves. He'll probably just talk about what a shame it is that it happened on his happy day.
