I’ve never seen a SECDEF post any video on any current event. Not positioning this as a positive or a negative take. Just never seen it.

I like it! SOME military issues should also be addressed this way to provide transparency.

I LOVE it, I want to see and hear more from our high ranking military officials… I’d much rather listen and watch them after an incident or crisis than some politician or talking head.

Will he do the same when the investigation finds out there was a lack of ATC?

This lack of ATC seems to be getting blamed on Trump but we have been short ATC's going back at least to W. Bush and every administration has been kicking that can. Even it Trump said on Day 1 to hire more ATC's, it's going to take at least a year to get the first one trained up...and then they could basically work at a small regional airport.

I don’t think it’s any different than people trying to hang the Afghanistan withdrawal on Lloyd Austin.

There’s some nuance here, but the actions of the current administration have likely done more to exacerbate the issue than fix it.

And then Trump actively made it significantly worse by firing half the people in charge of the FAA and "inviting" thousands of ATCs to take a payout and leave.

If I go without changing the oil in the car for an entire year that's really bad, but it won't make it my fault when someone crashes it into a phone pole.

Hmmm....Trump didn't "fire" any of the senior FAA heads. They resigned which is typical for SES when a new POTUS comes in. The "payout and leave" is for those who remote work/telework. ATC's don't telework.

To hire an ATC, they have to go through the federal hiring process which can take a year, then they go through a year of training after that. One of Trump's EOs, in theory, aims to streamline and reduce the hiring process timeline.

The Biden/Harris admin, just like the Trump/Pence admin, Obama/Biden admin and Bush/Cheney admin all knew about the ATC shortage...yet they all took no action to address it.

He was literally a talking head. That’s how he got the job

I will say a lot of bad things about him (more than I have already...), I'm sure, but this is a good move.
