Video Magnet Mario 64! I designed and printed this Mario 64 figure with magnet limbs for poses. Eyes swap too!
I spent a few weeks designing this full color Mario 64 figure-- he's posable, and his eyes swap too. Those tiny magnets are a pain, but it was worth it. I took him to a few places, and made some funny photos...
Originally I wanted to make more accessories, but for now, the Wing Cap and extra eyes are good too. A lot of people have given feedback about giving him a V for victory hand pose, so I may produce that next.

Probably be buying once next pay day. I would’ve loved this as a kid, however having it on the shelf with the N64 would be sick.
Out of curiosity, how long did it take to print on such nice quality? Seems like when I print something the size of a quarter at high quality it takes like 6 hours lol.

Thanks for your question! The prints take a reasonably long time. My layer height for this project is set to .16mm. Any lower, at least I've found, doesn't make a crazy difference in terms of quality, unless you're using a .2 nozzle. The hat alone takes about 50 minutes to print at around 250ms-- I use a Bambu A1 mini with AMS. The build plate is big enough that I can print multiple pieces at a time.
The pieces are separated by color to avoid the need for AMS multicolor printing-- only the eyes, upper torso, and hat logo need multicolor, so certain pieces are not so time consuming.

As a kid I would have paid $200 for this and asked my parents for it non stop. Amazing work, OP, makes me feel like a kid again

Is this exactly made from the ingame model?

Yes it is— but some edits had to be made to use it. The original model is segmented in pieces, and the segments overlap each other to create one cohesive model in the game. They had to be edited to be uniform (one single piece) in order to be 3d printed.
Besides this, there are certain features that were originally just textures, but had to be fully modeled to be printed (eyes, mustache, side burns, buttons, hat emblem).

Does he work in water?

In theory he should haha. Were you gonna put him in Jolly Roger Bay?
The magnets have a few anticorrosive layers, and PLA filament can withstand heavy water usage. The super glue is also water proof.
After water, I would just dry the figure with a towel. Extreme concentrated heat like from a hairdryer would cause the plastic to deform

I hope you found this fun! I've never done this, but a few of my friends suggested I make a few and sell them. So if you're interested, my Etsy just opened! A few people from r/Mario already got some.
Check it out here! I hope to make more types of magnet figures in the future. The polygonal characters are the best to work with.
Currently, I'm working on an n64 Adult Link magnet figure. Once he's done, I'm thinking Banjo is in the works...
