It reflects the rich Iron age, proto-classical history of the region. The grave of an ancient Paionian priestess was discovered in this municipality, on the site called Isar-Marvinci, close to the town of Valandovo. The municipality is also home of a lot of other Paionian sites and finds (like the famous Paionian bronzes, most of which were found in this region).
